When 17-year-ld Syrian refugee Hadi Al-Masri arrived in Berlin’s Tempelhf refugee (难民) shelter in 2018, he nticed tw prblems: the center’s pr WiFi left 300 students unable t d nline schlwrk, and piles f abandned smartphnes filled dnatin bins. Then he had an idea that wuld change his cmmunity.
Using skills learned frm repairing phnes in war-trn Alepp, Hadi began resurrecting brken devices. He turned a strage clset int a “tech clinic”, replacing cracked screens with plastic cut frm water bttles and teaching himself Linux t revive mtherbards. Within mnths, 40 repaired phnes were circulating amng students.
But his real innvatin came when he discvered the shelter’s unused satellite dish. “It lked like a giant metal flwer,” Hadi recalled. Frm YuTube, he learned t redirect the signal. Using cable frm abandned TVs and a ruter (路由器) made frm three damaged units, he built “NetHpe” — a netwrk that bsted WiFi cverage t 95% f the cmmunity.
The system wasn’t pretty, but it wrked. Refugee children culd finally attend virtual classes uninterrupted. German teachers nticed imprved grades, particularly amng girls wh previusly had t chse between studying and waiting in fd lines.
Hadi’s breakthrugh went viral when a visiting jurnalist psted phts f his setup. Tech cmpanies sent equipment, but Hadi insisted n teaching thers first. His “Build Yur Own Internet” wrkshps nw train bth refugees and elderly Germans in digital literacy (素养) . “The cables cnnect mre than devices,” he said. “They cnnect peple wh think they’re different.”
Nw studying cmputer engineering at TU Berlin, Hadi still vlunteers at the shelter every weekend. His latest prject? A slar-pwered charging statin built int an ld supermarket trlley. When praised, he shrugs, “In Syria, we say necessity sharpens the mind. I just had gd teachers — YuTube and desperatin.”

根据划线词后“He turned a strage clset int a ‘tech clinic’, replacing cracked screens with plastic cut frm water bttles and teaching himself Linux t revive mtherbards. (他把一个储藏室变成了一个‘技术诊所’,用从水瓶上剪下的塑料更换破裂的屏幕,并自学Linux系统来修复主板)”中“replacing cracked screens with plastic cut frm water bttles”和“revive mtherbards”可知,哈迪利做的是修复工作,所以“resurrecting brken devices”指的是修复损坏的设备。划线词“resurrecting”意思是修理并重新使用,与C项“Repairing and reusing”意思相近。故选C项。
【22题详解】细节理解题。根据第三段中“Using cable frm abandned TVs and a ruter (路由器) made frm three damaged units, he built “NetHpe” — a netwrk that bsted WiFi cverage t 95% f the cmmunity.(他使用废弃电视的电缆和由三个损坏的单元制成的路由器,建立了“NetHpe”网络,将WiFi覆盖率提高到95%)”和第四段中“The system wasn’t pretty, but it wrked. Refugee children culd finally attend virtual classes uninterrupted.(这个系统并不好看,但它有效。难民儿童终于可以不受干扰地上网课了)”可知,哈迪的“NetHpe”项目最显著的结果是难民儿童可以不受干扰地上网课。故选D项。
【23题详解】推理判断题。根据第五段中“His ‘Build Yur Own Internet’ wrkshps nw train bth refugees and elderly Germans in digital literacy (素养). ‘The cables cnnect mre than devices,’ he said. ‘They cnnect peple wh think they’re different.’ (他的‘自己搭建网络’工作坊现在为难民和德国老年人提供数字素养培训。他说:‘电缆连接的不仅仅是设备,它们连接着那些认为彼此不同的人。’)”可推知,哈迪坚持先教别人使用网络是为了连接着那些认为彼此不同的人,是为了弥合人们之间的数字鸿沟。故选C项。
【24题详解】推理判断题。根据第二段中“Using skills learned frm repairing phnes in war trn Alepp, Hadi began resurrecting brken devices. (利用在饱受战争蹂躏的阿勒颇学到的修理手机的技能,哈迪开始修复损坏的设备)”和第三段中“Using cable frm abandned TVs and a ruter (路由器) made frm three damaged units, he built ‘NetHpe’ — a netwrk that bsted WiFi cverage t 95% f the cmmunity. (他用废弃电视的电缆和由三个损坏的路由器组成的一个路由器,搭建了‘NetHpe’——一个将社区WiFi覆盖率提高到95%的网络)”可知,哈迪很有创造力;再根据第五段中“Tech cmpanies sent equipment, but Hadi insisted n teaching thers first. (科技公司送来了设备,但哈迪坚持先教别人)”和第六段中“Nw studying cmputer engineering at TU Berlin, Hadi still vlunteers at the shelter every weekend. (现在哈迪在柏林工业大学学习计算机工程,他仍然每个周末在收容所做志愿者)”可知,哈迪很热心。所以哈迪是有创造力且热心肠的。故选D项。

Everywhere ne enters cities, skyscrapers are being built r planned. Even Paris is getting ne such high building. The French capital recently supprted plans fr a 180-metre-high triangular twer by Herzg & de Mcurn f Switzerland, its first in fur decades.
Tday, every huge glbal city, tgether with many a secnd r third level ne, wants t put itself n the map with an icnic (标志性的) twer, r several. This creates plenty f strange shapes n the skyline. A firm f architects in Melburne has just released plans fr a 68-strey apartment and htel blck inspired by the fabric-cvered dancers in a Beynce vide.
Such expressins f architectural individuality have the unexpected effect. Cities lk mre and mre like each ther. Once upn a time, Chicag and New Yrk were mdern skyscraper cities, while Eurpean capitals such as Paris and Lndn had antique streetscapes. Nw, many are turning t cities sharing ne face.
This wrries designers. Mshe Safdie, the architect wh has designed twers in varius cities, says sme skyscrapers are mre like giant sculptures than buildings frming parts f a public space. Many cities are filled with these bring twers intended t attract attentin rather than t respnd t the lcal setting. The best architecture is ften the quietest, taking the High Line park in New Yrk and King’s Crss statin in Lndn. Yu wuld nt ntice either frm a distance, but they matter.
Frtunately, impressive new designs appear as a result f meeting the need f tday’s clients with high taste. Take the cities’ rising frces — media and technlgy cmpanies as an example. They d nt appreciate thse shiny tall buildings but expect smething smarter. Fr better r wrse, this is the era f tailred cmmand, with clients cntrlling the design f their wn twers.
      25. What cncerns architecture designers accrding t the text?
      A. T many skyscrapers in cities f different levels.
      B. Cities’ gradually lsing their unique features.
      C. Cities’ fllwing the trend f seeking their individuality.
      D. Architects’ eagerness t design skyscrapers f strange shapes.
      26. Which f the fllwing wuld Mshe Safdie agree with?
      A. City buildings are designed t draw peple’s attentin.
      B. Meeting clients’ tailred demand really matters a great deal.
      C. The best architecture is expected t exist in the quietest place.
      D. Eye-catching designs need t be in harmny with lcal envirnment.
      27. What’s the authr’s attitude tward cities’ skyline in the future?
      A. Hpeful.B. Dubtful.C. Unclear.D. Disappinted.
B 26. D 27. A
根据第三段“Such expressins f architectural individuality have the unexpected effect. Cities lk mre and mre like each ther. Once upn a time, Chicag and New Yrk were mdern skyscraper cities, while Eurpean capitals such as Paris and Lndn had antique streetscapes. Nw, many are turning t cities sharing ne face.(这种建筑个性的表达产生了意想不到的效果。城市看起来越来越相似。曾几何时,芝加哥和纽约是现代摩天大楼城市,而巴黎和伦敦等欧洲首都则有着古老的街景。现在,许多城市正变得千篇一律)”和第三段中“This wrries designers.(这让设计师感到担忧)”可知,建筑设计师担心的是城市逐渐失去其独特的特征。故选B项。
【26题详解】推理判断题。根据第四段“Mshe Safdie, the architect wh has designed twers in varius cities, says sme skyscrapers are mre like giant sculptures than buildings frming parts f a public space. Many cities are filled with these bring twers intended t attract attentin rather than t respnd t the lcal setting.(在不同城市设计过塔楼的建筑师摩西·萨夫迪说,一些摩天大楼更像是巨大的雕塑,而不是构成公共空间一部分的建筑。许多城市都充斥着这些旨在吸引眼球而非与当地环境相呼应的乏味塔楼)”可知,摩西·萨夫迪认为许多城市都充斥着旨在吸引眼球而非与当地环境相呼应的乏味塔楼,由此推知,他会赞同“引人注目的设计需要与当地环境相协调”这一表述。故选D项。
【27题详解】推理判断题。根据最后一段“Frtunately, impressive new designs appear as a result f meeting the need f tday’s clients with high taste.(幸运的是,为满足如今高品味客户的需求,令人印象深刻的新设计出现了)”可知,作者认为令人印象深刻的新设计出现了,所以他对未来城市的天际线持乐观态度,对其满怀希望。故选A项。

Amazn wrked with supplies t find a lightweight, 100% recycled paper that’s easier t wrap arund an bject t prtect it. It turned ut t perfrm better. The number f packages that get damaged in shipment was reduced. The paper als takes up less space, s nw mre items fit in a smaller bx. That translates t using less gas r electricity, in the case f the cmpany’s electric vans t make a delivery.
Plastic is cheap, but the new system saves the cmpany mney since there’s less risk that smething will break during shipping and need replacement, Lindner says. “And s the fact that we can deliver packages mre safely and with less damage is a cst saving t us.”
It’s a welcme change fllwing years f pressure frm envirnmental grups t stp plastic pllutin flding int ceans. “The fact that the wrld’s largest e-cmmerce cmpany has made plastic air pillws a thing f histry is fantastic news fr the wrld’s ceans,” the nnprfit Oceana said in a statement in respnse t Amazn’s annuncement.
      28. What is prbably the biggest advantage f Amazn’s new delivery packaging?

      C. Amazn’s paper packaging is a win-win apprach.
      D. Amazn was the first cmpany t use recycled paper.
      30. What can we learn frm the last paragraph?
      A. Plastic air pillws will never be used again glbally.
      B. Amazn was frced t make the change by envirnment grups.
      C. Large cmpanies can significantly impact envirnmental prgress.
      D. Paper packaging will cmpletely slve the prblem f cean pllutin.
      31. Which wuld be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Plastic Air Pillws: A Thing f the Past.
      B. Plastic Packaging: Threat t Marine Life.
      C. Amazn’s Paper Packaging: A Great Discvery.
      D. Amazn’s Ec-friendly Change: Saving Csts and Oceans.
A 29. C 30. C 31. D
根据第二段中““We want t make sure the final package is easy t recycle at hme,” says Pat Lindner, Amazn’s vice president f sustainable packaging.(亚马逊可持续包装副总裁帕特·林德纳说:“我们希望确保最终的包装在家中易于回收。”)可知,亚马逊新快递包装最大的优势可能是它的可回收性。故选A项。
