They say music is universal, and it seems t be true since wherever we g, we see peple listening, playing r dancing t it. We tend t think that music is larger than ur cultural differences and shws the deeper cnnectins between us.
But accrding t a recent study published in the Current Bilgy, music desn’t speak t everyne. There is a cnditin, the researchers argue, called “musical anhednia”. They say that thse wh have this cnditin may have few abilities t experience pleasure frm music.
Fr the study, 30 peple listened t the same, mstly classical music pieces. They were then asked t cmplete a questinnaire n hw they felt abut the music. At the same time, the researchers measured their heart rate and skin reactin, which are cnsidered physilgical measures f feelings.
Accrding t the researchers, mst f the peple in the study gt pleasure frm the music. They had a quicker heartbeat and sweatedmre. Hwever, a small number f them had very little and even n pleasant feeling while they were listening t the music. These peple had nne r very few f the physical signs which the thers in the study experienced.
The researchers say that this means peple have different abilities t enjy music and that “there are peple wh specifically can’t enjy music at all”
T study the cnditin mre deeply, anther grup f scientists, at Clumbia University, US, researched brain activities. They fund that the key is the bld flw t the reward system in the brain. Peple wh gt less pleasure frm music had cmparatively lwer bld flw t areas invlved in the reward system f the brain when they were listening t music.
The lwer bld flw makes it mre likely that the brain’s “reward system” will be inactive. And it will prduce less f the “pleasure chemical” dpamine. As a result, peple get less pleasure frm music.
If the research is crrect, accrding t Natinal Public Radi, there are simply peple wh just dn’t get music. They may get pleasure frm many things, but a gd tune isn’t ne f them.

Hwever, this desn’t happen t everyne, s scientists guess there must be anther reasn why peple becme left-handed. One idea is that peple usually get right-handed frm their parents. If a persn des nt receive the gene(基因) fr right-handedness, he/ she may becme either right-handed r left-handed accrding t the chance and the peple they wrk r live with.
Thugh right-handedness is mre cmmn than left-handedness, peple n lnger think left-handed peple are strange r unusual. A lng time ag, left-handed children were made t use their right hands like ther children, but tday they dn’t have t.
