教学目标
通过本课时的学习,学生能够:
借助图片和听力材料识别四种主要污染类型,初步了解其成因和影响;
获取并梳理Millie和Daniel对话中关于减少空气污染和水污染的建议,提取并归纳表达环保建议的词汇和句型;
运用所学词汇和句型开展同伴对话活动,讨论如何减少不同类型的污染。
教学内容
教学重点:
根据图片、音频及对话获取有关污染类型及减少污染方法的基本信息;
运用所学词汇和句型交流如何减少污染,提出环保建议;
知晓单元主题和学习目标。
教学难点:
运用恰当的英文表达与同伴进行对话,讨论减少污染的具体措施;
在了解污染影响的基础上,初步树立环保意识,理解个人行为对环境的重要性。
教学过程
Step 1: Lead-in
Activity:
Shw the image frm the textbk.
Ask students: "What des it lk like?" Encurage them t describe it using wrds like clean, beautiful, fresh, and natural.
Guide students t cnnect the image with the idea f envirnmental prtectin.
Present the unit title: A Green Wrld.
Design Intent:
T create an engaging and relatable starting pint, activate students' descriptive language, and naturally intrduce the unit theme in a psitive and visually supprted manner.
Step 2: Intrductin t Fur Pllutin Types
Activity:
Play a shrt vide that displays varius pllutin prblems n Earth tday.
After watching, ask: "What envirnmental prblems did yu see in the vide?"
Write students' answers n the bard and categrize them int fur main types f pllutin: sil, air, water, and nise pllutin.
Design Intent:
T visually and emtinally engage students with real-wrld issues, create cntrast between the ideal "green wrld" and current pllutin, and systematically intrduce the fur pllutin types as the lessn's fcus.
Step 3: Brainstrming n Effects & Listening fr Causes
Activity:
In pairs r small grups, students discuss: "What are the harms r influences f these fur types f pllutin?"
Encurage them t think abut the effects n health, animals, nature, and daily life.
After grup sharing, briefly summarize key pints n the bard (e.g., bad fr health, kill animals, cause stress).
Transitin t listening: "Nw let' s listen t find ut what causes these pllutins."
Play the textbk audi (Part A). Students cmplete the fill-in-the-blank table abut the causes f each pllutin type.
Design Intent:
T encurage cllabrative thinking and speaking abut pllutin impacts, cnnect prir knwledge with new input, and develp listening cmprehensin skills thrugh a structured, infrmatin-gap activity.
Step 4: Dialgue Mdeling & Guided Practice
Activity:
Direct students t the mdel dialgue (Millie and Daniel) in the textbk.
Play the audi f the cnversatin, and ask students t listen and fllw.
Highlight the sentence patterns n hw t give advice.
Students practice the dialgue in pairs, fcusing n prnunciatin and intnatin.
Teacher prvides prmpts (e.g., "Hw t reduce air pllutin?") t guide ne r tw pairs t demnstrate a mdified versin f the dialgue.
Design Intent:
T prvide clear linguistic mdels fr making suggestins, imprve students' spken fluency thrugh guided repetitin, and build cnfidence in using target structures befre freer prductin.
Step 5: Creative Dialgue Prductin & Perfrmance
Activity:
Intrduce the task: "Create yur wn dialgue abut reducing tw types f pllutin."
In pairs, students chse a pllutin type, make up a shrt dialgue using the target structures and vcabulary learned.
Have students talk abut the biggest prblem in their hmetwn and explain.
Design Intent:
T fster creative language use, integrate previusly learned cntent (causes, effects, slutins) int a cmmunicative task, and prvide a lw-stakes perfrmance pprtunity that builds speaking cnfidence.
Step 6: Reflectin, Summary & Call t Actin
Activity:
Shw the PPT slide "Yur everyday chices make a difference!"
Summarize the lessn by quickly reviewing.
End with the unit's cre message: "Every actin cunts. Let's g green tgether."
Design Intent:
T cnslidate learning and end the lessn with an empwering and mtivatinal takeaway.
Step 7: Hmewrk
Activity:
Present tw-tiered hmewrk:
Cmpulsry: Talk abut specific ways t reduce pllutin (use structures frm class).
Optinal: Design a simple English pster with the title "Prtect Our Earth" and include at least tw tips fr ging green.
Design Intent:
T prvide differentiated fllw-up tasks that reinfrce writing skills, encurage creativity, extend learning beynd the classrm, and allw students t engage with the tpic in a frmat f their chice.
