First, we had a ne-mnth training curse. We learned abut every building alng the 7.8-kilmeter Central Axis, frm the Yngding Gate t the Bell and Drum Twers. When a grup f visitrs came t me and asked me t tell them abut the gate, I pened my muth, but the wrds I had recited hundreds f times suddenly disappeared. I std there, red-faced, and finally managed t say a few simple sentences. I felt s upset that I wanted t give up.
That evening, my teacher talked t me. “The best guide isn’t the ne wh recites the script perfectly,” she said. “It’s the ne wh tells the stry with heart, and makes the visitrs fall in lve with this city’s histry.” Her wrds made me think a lt. I didn’t give up. Instead, I stpped just reciting the script. I walked alng the Central Axis every weekend, talked t ld lcal peple, and cllected their stries abut the ld streets. I added these warm stries t my intrductin.
Slwly, I became mre and mre cnfident. Visitrs wuld listen t my stries carefully, ask me mre questins, and smile at me when I finished. Last mnth, a visitr frm anther city tld me, “Thank yu fr telling me these stries. Nw I dn’t just see ld buildings — I see the heart f Beijing.”

If yu walk arund Beijing these days, yu’ll find it hard t miss the patches f green everywhere — small pcket parks beside busy rads, rftp gardens n ffice buildings, and large urban frests in the suburbs. These are all part f Beijing’s “City Frest” prject, which has been changing the city’s envirnment ver the past 10 years.
The “City Frest” prject started in 2016, with the gal f building mre natural green spaces in the city, and imprving the living envirnment fr lcal peple. Unlike traditinal parks, which are mainly designed fr sightseeing, city frests are built t fllw the rules f nature. They use lcal plants that can grw well in Beijing’s climate, and create a cmplete ecsystem fr birds, insects and small animals. There are n neatly cut lawns r man-made flwer beds; instead, there are wild grass, fallen leaves and natural water pls, just like a real frest.
A recent study by the Beijing Frestry and Parks Bureau shws that by the end f 2025, Beijing has built mre than 300 city frests, cvering an area f ver 40,000 mu. These green spaces have increased the city’s frest cverage rate t 45%, and reduced the average summer temperature in the surrunding areas by 2-3℃. They have als helped imprve the air quality, and prvided hmes fr mre than 150 kinds f wild animals and birds.
“Befre, there was nly a busy rad and sme ld buildings here. Nw, it’s a beautiful frest. I walk here every mrning with my grandchild, and we can hear birds singing and see squirrels running arund. It’s like having a natural park right at ur dr,” said Ms. Li, a 68-year-ld lcal resident wh lives near a city frest in Chayang District.
The prject is still ging n. Accrding t the plan, Beijing will build anther 50 city frests by 2030, and cnnect all the green spaces tgether t frm a cmplete green netwrk acrss the city. “We want t make Beijing a city in the frest, nt just a city with frests,” said an expert frm the Beijing Frestry and Parks Bureau. “Every persn in Beijing can enjy the beauty f nature, n matter where they live.”
27.What is the main difference between city frests and traditinal parks?
      A. City frests are larger in size.
      B. City frests are built t fllw natural rules.

In the age f smartphnes and digital messages, we type thusands f wrds every day, but we hardly ever write by hand. Many f us have frgtten the feeling f hlding a pen, and the way ur handwriting carries ur persnality and emtins. But recently, a grwing number f peple are bringing handwriting back int their daily lives, and finding unexpected value in this ld-fashined skill.
Every time we write a letter, a nte r even a shpping list by hand, we are nt just putting wrds n paper. We are creating smething unique. Unlike typed wrds, which are all the same n matter wh types them, every persn’s handwriting is different. The size f yur letters, the angle f yur pen, the way yu cnnect the wrds — all these things shw wh yu are. A shaky line might shw that yu were nervus, a big, bld wrd might shw that yu were excited, a gentle curve might shw that yu were calm. Handwriting is a mirrr f yur inner self, smething that digital messages can never cpy.
Handwriting als helps us think mre clearly and remember things better. Many studies have shwn that when we write by hand, ur brain is mre active than when we type. When we type, we just press a key, and the wrd appears. But when we write by hand, we have t frm each letter ne by ne, which makes us pay mre attentin t the wrds we are writing. This slw, careful prcess helps us understand the cntent better, and keep it in ur memry fr lnger. Many students say that taking ntes by hand in class helps them remember the lessns much better than typing them n a laptp.
What’s mre, handwriting can bring peple clser tgether. In a time when we can send a message t smene n the ther side f the wrld in a secnd, a handwritten letter has becme a very special gift. It takes time and care t write a letter by hand. When yu receive a handwritten letter, yu knw that the sender sat dwn, thught abut yu, and put their heart int every wrd. It carries much mre warmth and meaning than a typed message. Many peple say that a handwritten letter frm a friend r family member is smething they will keep fr years, even fr a lifetime.
Of curse, we dn’t have t give up digital messages cmpletely. They are fast, cnvenient and perfect fr daily cmmunicatin. But we can als leave sme space fr handwriting in ur lives. Write a letter t a friend, keep a handwritten diary, r just write dwn yur thughts n a piece f paper. In the fast-paced digital age, handwriting is nt just a dying skill. It is a quiet, pwerful way t cnnect with urselves, with thers, and with the beauty f slw, mindful living.
30.Why des the writer talk abut the studies in Paragraph 3?
      A. T explain why handwriting helps us think and remember better.
      B. T cmpare the differences between handwriting and typing.
      C. T shw that handwriting is still imprtant fr students.
      D. T advise peple t type less and write mre every day.
31.What des the wrd “bld” in Paragraph 2 mst prbably mean?
      A. Thin and weak. B. Thick and cnfident. C. Slw and careful. D. Shaky and nervus.
32.Accrding t the passage, which f the fllwing is a benefit f handwriting?
      A. It helps us save time n daily cmmunicatin.
      B. It allws us t send messages t peple far away quickly.
      C. It carries ur persnality and brings peple clser tgether.
      D. It makes ur wrds lk the same as thers’ and easier t read.
33.Which f the fllwing is the best title fr this passage?
      A. The Death f Handwriting in the Digital Age
      B. Hw t Imprve Yur Handwriting Skills
      C. The Unexpected Value f Handwriting
      D. Different Ways f Cmmunicatin in the Mdern Wrld
