Selwyn said. “But we’ve gt t be thinking frward in terms f the skills peple will need fr jbs and their ways f living.”
One respndent said schls shuld intrduce a “cntemprary life skills” subject: “A cmpulsry 1-hur a week class n skills needed that parents seem cntinually unable t teach their kids.” Suggestins fr the class included resume writing, filing tax returns and health claims. Anther respndent called fr students t be taught “general life skills as unfrtunately nt enugh kids will have parents t actually be bthered t educate them r simply parents dn’t knw themselves”.
Of the subjects, maths was the highest ranked (75.5 percent), fllwed clsely by English (74.8 percent). And while science was the third highest ranked subject (46.2 percent), it was mre strngly supprted by thse wh earned higher wages and were university educated cmpared t lwer incme earners.
Aspects f schl life cnsidered least imprtant were students having fun, learning abut things that interested them and being given the pprtunity t be creative.

24.(8分)Mst f us dn’t reach fr that gnarled (多瘤的) carrt when selecting ur prduce at the lcal supermarket. That’s exactly why Americans waste up t 40% f edible fd every year. This unbelievable number has sparked the “ugly fd” mvement, inspiring many cmpanies t sell ugly fruit and vegetables t cnsumers, rather than thrwing them in the trash.
One San Francisc rganizatin is taking a unique apprach. The Salvage Supperclub hsts fancy dinners inside dumpsters (垃圾箱) where they serve dishes entirely prepared with fd that wuld have therwise gne t waste.
Jsh Treuhaft, funder f these ugly fd dinners, riginally came up with the idea t bring abut the awareness f America’s fd waste prblem. “There is undevelped ptential in their fd that fr sme reasn, nt t their wn fault, is ging t waste,” he tld Seeker’s Laura Ling.
Treuhaft isn’t alne in his effrt t reduce America’s fd waste. A change.rg request last year called fr Whle Fds t becme part f the ugly fd mvement. They sld misshapen (畸形的) fruits and vegetables in Nrthern Califrnia stres.
Selling imperfect prduce is still relatively rare right nw, which can be partially attributed t a supply issue rather than a lack f willing participants. Raley’s, a Sacrament-based grcery chain, started an ugly fd pilt prgram called “Real Gd”, but discntinued it after 90 days saying they had “sme challenges surcing the prduct” A grwer might have large amunts f ugly prduce ne year due t terrible weather, but much less the next year if the weather is better. Harvests cnstantly vary and retailers are mre likely t buy ugly prduce in large number rather than just a few punds at a time.
This is why rganizatins like the Salvage Supperclub are playing an imprtant rle in the preventin f fd waste. The Salvage Supperclub takes it a step further by nt nly buying the ugly prduct, but turning it int a gd dining experience as well.

B.T warn peple nt t waste.
C.T shw waste shuld be reused.
D.T advise peple nt t thrw dumpsters.
3、What makes Raley’s stp its “Real Gd” after 90 days f its peratin?
      A.Lack f surces f prduct.
      B.Retailers’ pursuing larger prfit.
C.Bad harvests due t bad weather.
D.Peple’s unwillingness t buy imperfect prduce.
4、Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A.Jining in the Ugly Fd Mvement.
      B.An Unusual Dining Experience.

D.The Fd Waste Prblem in America.
