Each year in Nvember, I receive a flurry f emails and texts frm friends wh want t vlunteer with their families n Thanksgiving as a way t give back. I als field phne calls frm rganizatins wh want t dnate t lcal prgrams that prvide Thanksgiving meals.
Hwever, as an fficial wh still wrks in the nnprfit sectr, I als feel deeply anxius because I knw the ther 51 weeks f the year, these critical prgrams that prvide fd access t residents in need are starving fr bth vlunteers and dnatins. Hunger is a year rund prblem, and each week vlunteers are the necessary part t ensure that prgrams are able t serve the cmmunity.
At Fd Fr Free, we rely n abut 100 vlunteers per week, and each f thse vlunteers is extremely imprtant t prviding fresh, healthy fd t peple in the Greater Bstn area wh need it.
