第二部分 阅读理解(满分40分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
21.(6分)Life desn’t always turn ut the way we’d like. When situatins take an unfavrable turn, we becme upset, frustrated, r angry. When thers dn’t agree with us, r act in a manner we find disturbing, anger is a typical respnse. With the exceptin f a few extreme circumstances» an angry reactin rarely imprves the situatin r helps us change ur mind. Thughtful cnsideratin f what feelings and reactin are mst helpful actually restres ur real pwer, s cnsider the fllwing alternatives t anger.
Cmpassin, cnsisting f bth understanding and empathy, can be a perfect slutin t anger. Each persn has a right t live life accrding t their beliefs, dreams, needs, etc. If smene is acting imprperly r nt living up t ur ideals, we need t remve the “shulds” and remind urselves that it is a necessary part f their life’s jurney. Chsing this alternative respnse sftens ne’s heart and prevents anger frm arising.
Humr is anther pwerful tl fr lessening anger. We take life and persnal ffense far t seriusly. After all, their behavir is a reflectin f their internal envirnment and has nthing at all t d with us and it is in reality relatively unimprtant. Humr puts any serius situatin int its prper places. It acts as a prtective barrier t emtinal pain as we recgnize that what is happening has nthing at all t d with us.
S when thers behave badly, frgive them fr their bad behavirs rather than judge them in yur heart. When life hands us the exact ppsite f what we requested, make light f it, After all, this life is nly temprary s why get s bent ut f shape when it isn’t in line with yur ideals? Rain n yur wedding day? Break at the umbrellas and bts and dance in the puddles!

A.Anger makes a persn mre pwerful.
B.All the peple get annyed easily.
C.Anger ften des n gd t the situatin.
D.Anger can d smething gd in mst cases.
2、Hw shuld we respnd t thers’ misbehavir accrding t the secnd paragraph?
A.Criticize it sharply. B.Cmplain abut it.
C.Leave it as it is. D.Understand and accept it.
3、What des the underlined phrase mean in the last paragraph?
A.Dull. B.Angry.
C.Delighted. D.Gifted.
4、What’s the best title f the passage?
A.Alternative Respnses t Anger.
B.The Bad Effects f Anger.
C.The Causes f Frequent Anger.
D.The Risk f Getting Angry.
22.(8分) Listen carefully t the ftsteps in the family hme, especially if it has wden flrs, and yu can prbably wrk ut wh it is that is walking abut. The features mst cmmnly used t identify peple are faces, vices, finger prints and retinal scans. But their “behaviural bimetrics”, such as the way they walk, are als giveaways.
Researchers have, fr several years, used vide cameras and cmputers t analyse peple’s gaits, and are nw quite gd at it. But translating such knwledge int a practical identificatin system can be tricky----especially if that system is suppsed t be hidden. Cameras are ften visible, are hard t set up, requi5re gd lighting and may have their view blcked by ther peple. S a team led by Krikr Ozanyan f the University f Manchester, in England and Patricia Scully f the Natinal University f Ireland, in Galway have been lking fr a better way t recgnize gait. Their answer: pressure-sensitive mats.
In themselves, such mats are nthing new. They have been part f security systems fr dnkeys’ years. But Dr. Ozanyan And Dr. Scully use a cmplex versin that can recrd the amunt f pressure applied in different places as smene walks acrss it. These measurements frm a pattern unique t the walker. Dr. Ozanyan and Dr. Scully therefre turned, as is nw cmmn fr anything t d with pattern recgnitin, t an Artificial Intelligence system that uses machine learning t recgnize such patterns.
It seems t wrk. In a study published earlier this year the tw researchers tested their system n a database f ftsteps trdden by 127 different peple. They fund that its errr rate in identifying wh was wh was a mere 0.7%. And Dr. Scully says that even withut a database f ftsteps t wrk with the system can determine smene’s sex---wmen and men, with wide and narrw pelvises(骨盆) respectively, walk in different ways,---- and guess, with reasnable accuracy, a subject’s age.
A mat-based gait-recgnitin system has the advantage that it wuld wrk in any lighting cnditins----even pitch-darkness. And thugh it might fail t identify smene if, say, she was wearing stiletts and had been entered int the database while wearing trainers, it wuld be very hard t fl it by imitating the gait f an individual wh was allwed admissin t a particular place.
The latest phase f Dr. Ozanyan’s and Dr. Scully’s prject is a redesign f the mat. The ld mats cntained individual pressure sensrs. The new nes cntain ptical fibres(光纤). Light-emitting dides(二极管) distributed alng tw neighburing edges f a mat transmit light int the fibres. Sensrs n the ppsite edges( and thus the ppsite ends f the ptical fibres) measure hw much f that light is received. Any pressure applied t part f the mat causes a distrtin(变形) in the fibres and a cnsequent change in the amunt f light transmitted. Bth the lcatin and amunt f change can be pltted and analyzed by the machine-learning system.
Dr. Ozanyan says that the team have built a demnstratin fibre-ptic mat, tw meters lng and a metre wide, using materials that cst £100($130). They are nw talking t cmpanies abut cmmercializing it. One applicatin might be in health care, particularly fr the elderly. A fibre-ptic mat installed in a nursing hme r an ld persn’s wn residence culd mnitr changes in an individual’s gait that warn certain illnesses. That wuld prvide early warning f smene being at greater risk f falling ver, say, r f their cgnitin becming damaged.
Gait analysis might als be used ass a security measure in the wrkplace, mnitring access t restricted areas, such as parts f military bases, server farms r labratries dealing with harmful materials. In these cases, emplyees wuld need t agree t their gaits being scanned, just as they wuld agree t the scanning f their faces r retinas fr ptical security systems.
Perhaps the mst fascinating use f gait-recgnitin mats, thugh, wuld be in public places, such as airprts. Fr that t wrk, the ftsteps f thse t be recgnized wuld need t have been stred in a database, which wuld be harder t arrange than the cllectin f mugshts and fingerprints that existing airprt security systems rely n. Sme peple, hwever, might vlunteer fr it. Many aircrew r pre-registered frequent flyers wuld welcme anything that speeded up ne f the mst tiresme parts f mdern travel.
1、Camera-based gait recgnitin fails t cme int wide use, because _____.
a. it’s nt easy t find the cameras
b. finger print recgnitin is still ppular
c. smetimes the cameras can be cvered
d. it’s a waste f mney t fix the equipment
e. gd lighting cnditins can’t be guaranteed

D.Restricted areas are accessible t thse with their gaits scanned befrehand.
