He dreamed f quitting his bring jb, leaving his unhappy marriage and traveling arund the wrld t rediscver himself. Talking with him every week felt like lking in a mirrr, making me face my wn fears: being laughed at, being judged and giving up my safe, predictable life. Jack’s determinatin finally encuraged me t make plans fr a six-week sl trip alng Australia’s wild western cast.
When my finger hvered (悬停) ver the bking buttn, I secretly hped the payment wuld fail, giving me ne mre excuse t hesitate. But I knew this mix f excitement and fear was nrmal — smething I’d seen in my clients, especially lder nes wh held n t safety even when it was n lnger gd fr them. As the bking cnfirmatin ppped up, I knew stepping int uncertainty, at any age, culd bring grwth, cnfidence and jy. My family’s different reactins reminded me: curage desn’t fade with age; it deepens, and it’s never t late t chase the dreams I nce put away.

The researchers fund that a messy envirnment can actually make peple mre likely t eat unhealthy fds, but the persn’s mindset (思维倾向) within that envirnment can either trigger r prtect against vereating. In the messy kitchen, wmen wh wrte abut a time when they felt in cntrl cnsumed fewer ckie calries than the wmen wh wrte abut being ut f cntrl.
As the researchers pinted ut, ur mindset affects whether we will vereat unhealthy fds while in a messy kitchen. If we g int the kitchen with an “in-cntrl” attitude, we might nt eat as many ckies. But then again, why nt try ut cleaning up the kitchen and see what it des?
Everything that feeds yu desn’t cme n a plate such as yur relatinships, physical activity, and spirituality. Yur hme envirnment is als a big part f that nurishment (营养). S whether yu tidy up yur kitchen r yur living rm, paying attentin t yur living space (just like yur diet!) can have a psitive effect n health.

Nwadays generative (生成的) AI tls like ChatGPT are flding int schls, prmising t transfrm learning. But in a recent study, researchers uncvered a hidden danger: the better these tls perfrm, the mre they might drp students’ ability t think by themselves.
Nearly 1,000 students frm grade 9 t 11 in Turkey jined the study. They were divided int three grups: ne with n AI access (使用权) — the cntrl grup, ne using ChatGPT, and ne using GPT Tutr — an imprved AI tutr designed by teachers which gave guidance instead f answers and included fixes fr cmmn mistakes. Over fur weeks, students used these tls during practice perids, and then were fllwed by exams withut AI help.
During practice perids, students using the ChatGPT scred 48% higher than thse withut AI. Thse using the imprved GPT Tutr scred 127% higher. Hwever, in exams withut AI, ChatGPT users perfrmed 17% wrse than the cntrl grup. GPT Tutr users, n the ther hand, did just as well as students wh never used AI. This shws that while AI can better shrtterm perfrmance, prly designed tls might hurt real learning.
Researchers fund that students using ChatGPT ften asked fr direct answers instead f trying t slve prblems themselves. Abut 31% f their messages were simple requests like, “What’s the’answer?” In cmparisn, GPT Tutr users spent mre time asking fr guidance r explaining their details. The safeguards in GPT Tutr — like detailed guidance — helped students think critically. Withut these features, ChatGPT acted like a “crutch”, making students less prepared fr their wn hmewrk.
Surveys als shwed anther fact. ChatGPT users felt cnfident abut their exam perfrmance, even thugh their scres drpped. GPT Tutr users believed they learned mre, even thugh their exam results were similar t the cntrl grup. This suggests that AI tls might create false cnfidence if nt carefully designed.
In shrt, generative AI has great prmise in educatin, but its design matters. Tls built with teacher expertise and fcus n prblem-slving can help students learn. Thse that priritize speed ver understanding might d mre harm than gd.
      32. Which aspect f generative AI tls des the new research fcus n?
      A. Its advancement.B. Its accuracy.C. Its flexibility.D. Its influence.
      33. What is paragraph 2 mainly abut?
      A. Experimental design.B. Study results.C. Research backgrund.D. Tl functins.
      34. Which request is a student using GPT Tutr likely t make?
      A. Grade the mnthly test paper quickly.B. Prvide the best title f my cmpsitin.
      C. Walk me thrugh this prblem step by step.D. Translate the fllwing sentence int Chinese.
      35. What d the surveys cncerning AI tls present in paragraph 5?
      A. A misunderstanding f the prduct design cntents.
      B. A mismatch between student beliefs and actual results.
      C. Cnfidence is directly affected by cmplexity f AI tls.
      D. Scres differ between ChatGPT users and the cntrl grup.

It was June, the last day f schl. My class f first-graders was feverishly anticipating their summer vacatin. T add a jyful flavr, I had sme ballns brught in, but fr me, this hliday was bittersweet. I’d just mved t this city and culdn’t affrd t fly back t accmpany Dad. He was desperately missing me, fr it was his first summer withut me.
When switching ff the light n my way ut, I nticed the ballns near the windw. Unsure what t d with them, I grabbed the thirteen strings and stuffed them int the backseat f my car. Their rainbw f clrs lifted my spirits and gratefully, I didn’t feel s alne.
As the city was still freign t me, I decided t g fr a drive and sn fund myself winding dwn a stretch f rad where the trees verhead cvered each ther. The branches reminded me f tw friends stretching ut t greet each ther. Befre lng, a retirement hme appeared. It was a place with a feeling f frgttenness and I sptted a man sitting alne in the shade utside.
I felt a sudden urge t pull in. But the ballns in my backseat blcked my view-then I knew what t d with them. Opening the dr and grabbing ne f the strings, I waved t the man, and he smiled. His name was Daniel and he was abut Dad’s age. When I handed him the balln, he grinned (咧嘴笑),“Thanks. It gives a little clr t my life.” While tying it t his chair, he lked happier than when I arrived. S I smiled, “Yu’re welcme, Daniel. Perhaps I’ll see yu again smetime.”
Unexpectedly, he replied, “Perhaps, but prbably nt. Visitrs are always welcme, but rarely cme.” His wrds frced me t slide ver an ld chair next t his. Then we began chatting abut ur lives and his vice always reminded me f Dad. I’d thught it wuld be bring talking with a stranger. But it wasn’t; it was enlightening — I had been feeling lnely, and s had Daniel, and s had the residents in the retirement hme.
