Fr 26-year-ld Hungarian student Liu Ba Oscar, the path t studying Traditinal Chinese Medicine (TCM) was deeply
persnal. Standing in the middle f the busy TCM night market at Lianing University f Traditinal Chinese Medicine
(LNUTCM), he carefully prepared a traditinal medicine fr digestin, saying excitedly, “This is my first time trying a herbal
preparatin with my wn hands.”
When Liu was yung, he suffered frm frequent stmach pain and digestive issues, and Western medicine prvided little

the lcatin f Shenque acupuncture pint (神阙穴), a key TCM acupint (穴位). “T me, it felt like magic,” Liu said. “In just
a few mnths, I was feeling much better.”
Curius abut this ancient practice, Liu fllwed in his father’s ftsteps. In 2019, he left Hungary and registered at
LNUTCM, determined t understand the science behind TCM. During his studies, Liu discvered the lgic behind his
childhd treatment. The patches cntained warming herbs, ideal fr his cld-related digestive issues. The Shenque
acupuncture pint, clse t the digestive rgans, allwed the medicine t be absrbed efficiently. “It all made sense nce I
understd the thery,” he said. “It’s nt magic — it’s science.” Inspired, Liu experimented with his treatment. Diagnsed
with pr digestin, he adjusted his diet and tried different herbal cmbinatins. Over time, his digestive prblems faded.
The night market gave Liu the chance t see TCM in actin. He bserved traditinal Chinese medicine dctrs treating
patients, hping t absrb their techniques. “Seeing the thery applied in real life is invaluable,” he said. “It reminds me why I
chse this path.”
Accrding t LNUTCM Party Secretary Lyu Xiadng, TCM isn’t just abut treating illness. It’s abut “fcusing n the
whle lifestyle t maintain health and balance.” Lyu said. Fr Liu, the gal is t bring TCM back t Hungary. “My father

Thermal paper, widely used in shpping receipts, express waybills and mvie tickets, has becme an indispensable part f
mdern daily life. Hwever, its massive use has lng brught tw unslved prblems. Traditinal thermal paper uses
petrleum-based catings, which are hard t degrade in the natural envirnment and cntain harmful chemicals. Meanwhile, the
printed persnal infrmatin n it faces serius leakage risks, as the wrds can remain clear fr years even in pen
envirnment.
T slve these prblems, Li Min, a material science expert frm Zhejiang University, and her team develped a new type
f plant-based thermal paper. The base f the paper is made f nan-cellulse (纳米纤维素) extracted frm straw, a cmmn
agricultural waste. Inspired by the clr-fading feature f anthcyanin, a natural pigment, when meeting water, the team chse
it as the cre clrant f the new paper.
Different frm traditinal thermal paper which uses bisphenl A as a clr develper, the new paper matches anthcyanin
with bidegradable rganic acid. When heated, the tw cmpnents cmbine t frm stable blue-black wrds, which can stay
clear fr ver 6 mnths at nrmal rm temperature, fully meeting the daily strage needs f mst cmmercial receipts.
The team carried ut a set f cntrlled experiments t test the paper’s cmprehensive perfrmance. The results shwed
that the new paper’s printing clarity matches traditinal cmmercial thermal paper. In the privacy prtectin test, the wrds n
it disappeared cmpletely within 30 secnds after being put int water. In the degradatin test, it brke dwn fully in sil within
3 mnths, while traditinal paper nly degraded less than 10%in the same perid.
“Our current lab samples are still in small size,” Li says. “Large-scale industrial prductin may bring new challenges in
material unifrmity and prductin cst. We are clearly aware f these pssible prblems, and have started fllw-up research
t ptimize the material, t prmte its practical use step by step.”
28. What is a majr prblem f traditinal thermal paper?
A. It has very high prductin cst.
B. It is nt suitable fr daily use.
C. It breaks easily in wet envirnment.
D. It risks serius persnal infrmatin leakage.
29. What is the cre clrant f the new thermal paper made frm?
A. Recycled waste materials. B. Natural plant extracts.
C. Petrleum-based chemicals. D. Industrial by-prducts.
30. What result did Li’s team’s experiment cnfirm?
A. Its printing clarity matches traditinal thermal paper.
B. It can be fully degraded within ne mnth.
C. Its wrds disappear cmpletely in 10 secnds.
D. It has a lnger stable strage time.
31. What is Li Min’s attitude twards the industrial applicatin f the new paper?
A. Fully negative. B. Blindly ptimistic.
C. Ratinal and prudent. D. Ttally uncncerned.

A recent study n digital human (数字人) industry has uncvered a nticeable trend:mre and mre peple are frming
deep emtinal bnds with AI-pwered digital humans, which are widely used as virtual cmpanins, nline idls and custmer
service agents.Thugh whether these digital humans have real emtinal feedback remains unprven, this trend has greatly
widened the split in the existing cultural and ethical divide.
Ethicist Prfessr Zhang Wei has clearly utlined the tw sides f this divide: “One side will accuse the ther f
dangerusly indulging in virtual relatinships and escaping real scial interactins, while the ther will dismiss the first grup
as’refusing t accept the new frm f emtinal cnnectin in the digital age’.” His cncern is nt unreasnable. Tday, sme
peple already share their deepest secrets with digital humans and even treat them as life partners, while thers laugh ff the
idea as nthing mre than“cnfusing prgrammed respnses with real feelings”.
S what might a digital human with widely recgnized“emtinal value” lk like? Imagine a lifelng cmpanin that
listens t yur trubles, celebrates yur achievements, accmpanies yu thrugh hard times, and even grws and changes with
yu ver the years.Crucially, this cmpanin will have a cntinuus “memry” and frm a unique interactin mde with
yu,much like a real friend. While tday’s digital humans are nt yet at this stage, they are develping at an amazing
speed. When that future arrives, mre intense cnflicts ver their status and rights will be unavidable.
Histry ffers similar examples. Cnsider the wide acceptance f telephnes, which were nce strngly ppsed by peple
wh argued that they wuld destry face-t-face cmmunicatin and weaken real human relatinships, even decades after they
became ppular. There’s n reasn that the debate ver digital humans’emtinal value will be any different. What’s
wrse, unlike telephnes whse functin is clearly defined,we have n unified standard t judge whether the emtinal
cnnectin with digital humans is“real” r “valuable”.
Undubtedly, these deepening divisins will reshape ur legal rules, scial nrms and even family cncepts. That’s why
nw — befre the divide becmes t deep t bridge — is the critical mment t act. We need t build a reasnable ethical
and legal framewrk fr the digital age thrugh in-depth and ratinal discussin, and guide sciety frward in an rderly way,
rather than let the divisin split us apart.
32. What is the cre message f Paragraph 1?
A. Digital humans can prvide real emtinal feedback.
B. The ppularity f digital humans has widened scial ethical divide.
C. Digital humans are widely used in the service industry.
D. Peple have reached an agreement n digital humans.
33. What des the underlined wrd “indulging in” mean in Paragraph 2?
A. Breaking away frm. B. Being addicted t.
C. Taking charge f. D. Being cautius abut.
34. Why is “the wide acceptance f telephnes” mentined in Paragraph 4?
A. T shw the debate ver digital humans will last lng.
B. T prve telephnes have changed peple’s way f cmmunicatin.
C. T stress the imprtance f digital technlgy develpment.
D. T deny the value f face-t-face cmmunicatin.
35. What is the authr’s main purpse in writing the text?
A. T intrduce the develpment f digital humans.
B. T explain the functin f digital humans.
C T slve the cnflict ver digital humans.
D. T call fr early actin t deal with the cming ethical divide.
