The ckbk features dishes which might be made in a Chinese American hme as well as in Chinese American takeut restaurants. “Hme-style cking and restaurant-style cking have equal imprtance, but they are different,” Sarah said, adding that the family als discussed hw t be respectful f each pint. “I hpe the recipes will appeal t Chinese Americans, like my family, and als thse less familiar with Chinese cking.”
Part f their ckbk has als been psted n their website, attracting millins f faithful fllwers. The success f the ckbk is that it hnrs traditin as well as reflects mdern interpretatins, making it a mixture f the ld and the new. It als ffers building blcks fr hme cks wh want t learn t ck Chinese fd.
I started my explratin with the Kung Pa Chicken, a ppular dish and als my favrite. Jyfully, the dish I made tasted like it was suppsed t be. It really built up my cnfidence. Surely, as yu can imagine, I have als set up my gal t be expert in Chinese cking.
The ckbk is prmting Chinese cking t becme the dmain f hme cks in the United States. Fr t lng, Chinese cking has been a cuisine that many peple are used t nly eating ut.

Althugh being famus might sund like a dream cme true, tday’s stars, feeling like z animals, face pressures that few f us can imagine. They are at the center f much f the wrld’s attentin. Paparazzi (狗仔队) camp utside their hmes, cameras ready. Tablids (小报) publish thrilling stries abut their persnal lives. Just imagine nt being able t d anything withut being phtgraphed r interrupted fr a signature.
Accrding t psychlgist Christina Villareal, celebrities - famus peple - wrry cnstantly abut their public appearance. Eventually, they start t lse track f wh they really are, seeing themselves the way their fans imagine them, nt as the peple they were befre everyne knew their names. “Over time,” Villareal says, “they feel separated and alne.”

When they say smething silly r d smething ridiculus, there is always the Internet t spread the news in minutes and keep their “stry” alive frever.
If fame is s trublesme, why aren’t all celebrities running away frm it? The answer is there are still ways t deal with it. Sme stars stay calm by surrunding themselves with trusted friends and family r by escaping t remte places away frm big cities. They fcus nt n hw famus they are but n what they lve t d r whatever made them famus in the first place.
Smetimes a few celebrities can get a little justice. Still, even stars wh enjy full justice ften cmplain abut hw hard their lives are. They are tired f being famus already.

      A. are ften misunderstd by the public

Cats perfrm better than human babies n a simple measure f language cmprehensin. The research, published Oct. 4 in the jurnal Scientific Reprts, revealed that. Research in the past five years has shwn that cats can recgnize nt nly their wn names but thse f familiar humans and animals. But can they assciate wrds and bjects mre generally?
T test this thery, Sah Takagi and her team gave 31 adult cats a simple wrd game used t investigate the same ability in human babies. The cats were shwn tw nine-secnd cartn clips (电影片段) with recrdings f their wners repeating a made-up wrd ver each image. The tw clips-a red sun labeled “param” and a blue unicrn with the wrd “keraru”-were repeated until the cats appeared t get bred and paid 50% less attentin t the screen.
After a shrt break, the image clips were repeated, but this time, half f the pairings were switched. The switched clips visibly affected the cats, with recrdings f “param” alngside the unicrn and “keraru” with the sun hlding their interest an average f 15% lnger. That the cats nticed this change and were clearly perplexed by it is gd evidence that they had frmed a link between the wrds and images, written in the study.
The experiment revealed that the cats were able t learn the cmbinatins frm just tw nine-secnd expsures - significantly faster than babies, wh required at least fur 20-secnd trials.
Hwever, these cmparisns shuld nt be verinterpreted. “Yu’re cmparing an adult animal with an immature animal frm a different species,” said Dr. Carl Siracusa, an animal behavirist at the University f Pennsylvania. “Mrever, a certain number f the cats have t be excluded, s there’s already a bias (偏见)-nt a fault f the research. Interacting with cats in the experiment is n easy task.” he added. Despite its limitatins, the study des shw that cats are capable f frming picture-wrd assciatins, the team wrte in the paper, althugh whether this is an inbrn ability r a prduct f dmesticatin remains a mystery.
      12. Why did Sah Takagi and her team carry ut the experiment?
      A. T test cats’ recgnitin f familiar names.
      B. T explre cats’ wrd-bject assciatin ability.
      C. T reveal cats’ secret f language understanding.
      D. T cmpare cats’ memry with that f human babies.
      13. What is presented in paragraph 2?
      A. Data cllectin.B. Result analysis.
      C. Practical examples.D. Experimental methds.
      14. What des the underlined wrd “perplexed” in paragraph 3 mean?
      A. Attracted.B. Surprised.
      C. Frightened.D. Cnfused.
      15. What is ne limitatin f the study, as mentined by Dr. Carl Siracusa?
      A. It’s difficult t engage cats.
      B. There’re nt enugh clips invlved.
      C. The cats tested are chsen randmly.
      D. Similarities between species are ignred.
