Past Cntinuus Tense.
1. 概念表示过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行或发生的动作At 8 ’clck last night, I was watching TV. 昨晚 8 点，我正在看电视。They were building the huse last mnth. 上个月他们一直在盖房子。
2. 句型(1) 肯定句：主语+was/were+ding+其他. 如：The girl was shpping when I saw her. 我看见那个女孩的时候，她正在购物。(2) 否定句：主语+was/were+nt+ding+其他. 如：He was nt wrking at that time. 那时他没有在工作。
(3) 一般疑问句：Was/Were+主语+ding+ 其他? 如：—Were yu playing basketball then? 那个时候你在打篮球吗？—Yes, I was. / N, I wasn’t. 是的，我在(打篮球)。 / 不，我没有(打篮球)。
3. 用法(1) 表示过去某一段时间内正在进行的动作(2) 表示过去某一时刻正在进行或发生的动作，与过去某一特定的时间状语连用 (at this time yesterday, then ...)
(3) 表示过去某个动作发生时，另一个动作正在进行，持续时间长的动作用过去进行时，常用在while引导的时间状语从句中While my mther was cking, I was ding my hmewrk. 妈妈做饭的时候，我正在写作业。
4. 与一般过去时的区别过去进行时强调某一动作在过去某一时刻或某段时间内正在进行；一般过去时表示在过去发生的动作，强调动作已经完成When the teacher came in, we were talking. 老师进来时，我们正在说话。When the teacher came in, we stpped talking. 老师进来时，我们停止了说话。
