1. 先判动作类型区分长动作 (持续发生) 和短动作 (瞬间完成)，这是选择连词和确定时态的前提。2. 一长一短动作的合并规则when：可引导长动作或短动作，长动作需用过去进行时，短动作需用一般过去时；语序灵活，引导的从句放句首时加逗号，放句尾时不加逗号。while：只能引导长动作，且长动作要用过去进行时，主句放短动作 (一般过去时)；不能直接引导短动作，从句放句首时加逗号。

3. 双长动作的合并规则when/while 均可使用，主从句都必须用过去进行时，突出两个动作同步发生；其中 while 更强调动作的全程同步性。语序规则同上：从句放句首加逗号，放句尾不加逗号。
4. 通用易错提醒(1) while 不能直接接短动作的一般过去时；(2) 双长动作合并时，不能用一般过去时，必须用过去进行时；(3) 从句放句首时，一定要用逗号和主句隔开。
