Tiangng: China’s space statinChinese peple have lng dreamt f explring space. In 2022, China finished building a space statin called Tiangng (“Heavenly Palace”). The name cmes frm ancient Chinese legends abut the sky. The mst imprtant part f Tiangng space statin is called Tianhe (“Harmny f Heavens”). It was sent int space n 29 April 2021. Just a few weeks after it arrived at its destinatin, Tianhe gt its first visitr—the Tianzhu-2 spacecraft. The spacecraft delivered fuel, equipment, tls and supplies fr the astrnauts. At this pint, the space statin was ready t receive human visitrs. Seven weeks later, the first three astrnauts arrived at Tianhe n Shenzhu-12. The crew spent three mnths testing equipment and preparing it fr future astrnauts. Since then, several mre Shenzhu crews have visited Tiangng, and tw mre lab mdules (Wentian and Mengtian) have been added. Astrnauts n space missins are always very busy. They need t d imprtant experiments and cllect scientific data. But it is definitely an amazing experience. The astrnauts get t g n spacewalks, and they can see the sun rise 16 times in ne day because Tiangng travels at abut 28,000 kilmetres an hur. That means it nly takes abut 90 minutes t g arund the Earth!At a height f abut 400 kilmetres abve the Earth, Tiangng passes acrss the sky. We d nt need any special tls t see it: the space statin can be seen frm mst parts f the wrld with the naked eye.
