But new research has fund that even a super-quick run culd have great health benefits. In fact, it seems that just a 10-minute sessin will nt nly make us feel better, but culd actually imprve brain health, t. But when it cmes t mental well-being, there’s been relatively little research dne n the specific benefits f running, cmpared with ther physical activities, such as cycling. S this was smething put t the test during a recent study. Researchers frm University f Tsukuba in Japan asked participants (参加者) t run n a treadmill (跑步机) fr just 10minutes. They then had t take a Strp Clr and Wrd Test which is used t measure reactin time in brain prcessing. Results shwed there was a highest pint in self-reprted pleasure and an increase in degree f activity f the brain.

Schl unifrm plicies culd be preventing yung peple frm being active, particularly primary schl-aged girls, new research suggests. The Cambridge study used data abut the physical activity participatin (参与) f mre than a millin yung peple aged 5 t 17 internatinally. It fund that in cuntries where mst schls require students t wear unifrms, fewer yung peple meet the 60 minutes f physical activity per day recmmended by the WHO.
Amng primary schl students, the difference in physical activity between girls and bys was fund t be wider in cuntries where unifrms were cmmn. The same result was nt fund in secndary schl-aged students. This culd be explained by the fact that yunger children mve mre thrughut the schl day than lder students, fr example, thrugh running r climbing at break and lunchtime. It prves that girls feel less cmfrtable in jining in active play if they are wearing certain types f clthing, such as skirts r dresses.
Dr Mairead Ryan frm the University f Cambridge, said, “Schls ften prefer t use unifrms fr different reasns. We are nt trying t suggest a blanket ban (禁令) n them, but t present new facts t supprt decisin-making. Schl cmmunities culd cnsider design, and whether certain characteristics f a unifrm might either encurage r limit any pprtunities fr physical activity acrss the day.”
A 2021 study in England fund that the design f girls’ PE unifrms prevented students frm jining in certain activities. Other studies have suggested that girls feel insecure abut jining in physical activity when wearing unifrms in which they d nt feel cmfrtable.
“Girls might feel less cnfident abut ding things like cartwheels and tumbles in the playgrund, r riding a bike n a windy day, if they are wearing skirts r dresses,” said Dr Esther Van Sluijs. “Scial rules and expectatins ften influence what they feel they can d in these clthes. Unfrtunately, when it cmes t prmting physical health, that’s a prblem.”
