Last summer, I went t France fr a hliday. I was s excited but als a little nervus because my French was nt gd.

The same is true in English, fr example, “ship” (a large bat) and “sheep” (a wlly animal) sund very similar, but they mean ttally different things.
Nw, I pay extra attentin t hw wrds sund and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh alng. After all, laughing is part f learning — even if it’s a bit stinky smetimes.

Peple's tendency t fllw trends, especially n scial media, is definitely a cmmn phenmenn. What des psychlgy say abut trend fllwing and is there a way t break free frm the desire t fllw the newest craze?
Accrding t psychlgist Pamela Rut, fllwing trends desn't fully shw character weakness. Rather, it is an entirely natural behavir fixed firmly int humans' basic need t belng t a scial grup and establish cnnectins with thers.
Histrically, fllwing trends was critical fr ur survival. Archaelgists have uncvered evidence that early humans wrked tgether t transprt stne tls ver lng distances abut 2 millin years ag in what is nw Kenya — cperatin that allwed them t survive in a bad envirnment. And thugh fllwing a trend n scial media isn't exactly as imprtant as utrunning a saber - tthed tiger (剑齿虎), human evlutin has prgrammed ur brains t be receptive t scial signals.
Anther cntributing factr the scial cgnitin (认知) — the prcesses that determine what we ntice and hw we respnd t thers — largely takes place in the parts f the brain that versee sight, pattern recgnitin, decisin - making, and similar functins. “Thanks t ur humans' cmplex cgnitive systems, ur brains are really gd at identifying patterns and mtivating behavir that cmmunicates ur scial status. As a result, yu can use almst anything t signal yur membership r cnnectin with a scial grup. Giving ff the right scial signals lets thers knw which grup yu belng t r want t engage with and thse signals are mnitred and interpreted by thers. Referred t as identity signaling, these behavirs can range frm putting a bumper sticker n a car t selecting a brand f clthing,” said Rut.
Almst everyne fllws trends in scial grups, withut exceptin. Hwever, tweens, teens and yung adults are especially likely t fllw trends, including risky nes, due t their heightened desire fr acceptance and belnging amng peers. Therefre, it's f great significance t guide them during their jurney twards maturity.
32. What des Rut think f fllwing trends?
A. Risky.B. Strange.C. Reasnable.D. Funny.
33. What is the hidden meaning f identity signaling?
A. A great thirst fr belnging.B. A true reflectin f persnality.
C. Gd taste in fashin industry.D. Blind pursuit f nvelty.
34. Which f the fllwing best summarizes the main idea f the passage?
A. Trend - fllwing is a harmful behavir that must be stpped.B. Trend - fllwing is a natural human behavir driven by scial needs.C. Scial media makes trend - fllwing essential fr mdern survival.D. Trend - fllwing is an unchangeable human instinct prven by science.
35. What will the fllwing - up paragraph mst prbably discuss?
A. Insights int the cming trends.B. Parental guidance in kids' future jbs.
