The term “bmerang kids” refers t adult children wh mve back int their parents’ huse after a perid f living n their wn.
Traditinally, Americans expect t finish their schling, get a jb, and then mve ut f their parents’ hme as sn as they becme financially independent. Unlike in ther cuntries where it is cmmn fr adult children t live with their parents until they marry, r even after they are married, in the US, adults living with their parents after graduating and getting a jb is nt the typical pattern.
Hwever, things may be changing. The current generatin f yung adults are being called the “bmerang generatin” because the lack f jbs has driven many f them t mve back with their parents, after having lived n their wn while in cllege r after getting a full-time jb. Fewer parents are experiencing what we smetimes call an “empty nest”, a hme where the adult children leave and nly the parents remain.
In a study cnducted by the Pew Research Center in 2011, abut 30% f peple ages 25 t 34 reprted that they had mved back with their parents at ne time r anther. While many f these adult children say that this is a satisfactry situatin, with ver 75% f these yung adults saying they like their living arrangement, smetimes it’s nt easy fr the parents. 65% parents say that it is difficult t adjust t the return f their children, especially when deciding hw much help t give them.
Hw des this living arrangement affect the relatinships between parents and adult children? Abut a quarter f the yung adults say that their relatinship with their parents has imprved, a quarter say it has wrsened, and abut 50% say it hasn’t had any effect either way.
      8. Frm Paragraph 1, we can learn that “bmerang kids” refers t peple wh _____ .
      A. are adults but quite mentally childish
      B. still live n their parents when grwing up
      C. care abut their parents by living with them
      D. can save little mney at the end f every mnth
      9. What is the traditinal life pattern abut yung adults in America?
      A. They live with their parents after graduatin.
      B. They live n their wn after they are married.

Diet Cke, diet Pepsi, diet pills, n-fat diet r vegetable diet... We are surrunded by the wrd “diet” everywhere we lk and listen. We have s easily been attracted by the prmise and ptential f diet prducts that we have stpped thinking abut what diet prducts are ding t us. We are paying fr prducts that harm us psychlgically and physically.
Diet prducts weaken us psychlgically. On ne level, we are nt allwing ur brains t admit that ur weight prblems lie nt in actually lsing the weight, but in cntrlling the cnsumptin f fatty, high-calrie and unhealthy fds. Diet prducts allw us t jump ver the thinking stage and g straight fr the scale instead. All we have t d is t swallw r recgnize the wrd “diet” in fd labels (标签).
On anther level, diet prducts have greater psychlgical effects. Every time we have a zer-calrie drink, we are telling urselves withut awareness that we dn’t have t wrk t get results. Diet prducts make peple believe that gain cmes withut pain, and that life can be withut resistance and struggle.
The danger f diet prducts lies nt nly in the psychlgical effects they have n us, but als in the physical harm that they cause. Diet fds can indirectly harm ur bdies because cnsuming them instead f healthy fds means we are preventing ur bdies frm having basic nutrients. Diet fds and diet pills cntain zer calries nly because the diet industry has created chemicals t prduce these wnderful prducts. Diet prducts may nt be nutritinal, and the chemicals that g int diet prducts are pssibly dangerus.
Nw that we are aware f the effects that diet prducts have n us, it is time t seriusly think abut buying them. Lsing weight lies in the pwer f minds, nt in the pwer f chemicals. Once we realize this, we will be much better able t resist diet prducts, and therefre prevent the physical harm that cmes frm using them.
      12. What can we learn abut diet prducts frm Paragraph 1?
      A. They fail t bring ut peples ptential.
      B. Peple have difficulty in chsing them.
      C. They are misleading peple.
      D. Peple are fed up with them.
      13. One psychlgical effect f diet prducts is that peple tend t ___ .
      A. try ut a variety f diet fds
      B. hesitate befre they enjy diet fds
      C. pay attentin t their wn eating habits
      D. watches their weight rather than their diet
      14. What des the underlined part “gain cmes withut pain” in Paragraph 3 prbably mean?
      A. Lsing weight is effrtless. B. Lsing weight csts a lt.
      C. Diet prducts bring n pain. D. Diet prducts are free frm calries.
      15. Why can diet prducts harm peple physically?
      A. They are ver-cnsumed. B. They lack basic nutrients.
      C. They are shrt f chemicals. D. They prvide t much energy.
