Rather than fllwing a distinct style, Liu’s prjects include lcal elements and rely n “lw-tech” simplicity

62.What can we cnclude frm Geffrey Raisman’s finding?
A.Brain damage seriusly prevents ne’s learning.
      C
B.Brain pwer weakens slwer than we imagine.
Sme peple have said aging is mre a slide int frgetfulness than a jurney twards wisdm. Hwever, a
grwing bdy f research suggests that late-in-life learning is pssible in reality educatin des an aging brain gd.
Thrughut life, peple’s brains cnstantly restre themselves, In the late 1960s, British brain scientist
Geffrey Raisman studied grwth in damaged brain regins f rats thrugh an electrn micrscpe; their brains were
making new cnnectins. This meant brains may change every time a persn learns smething new.
Of curse, that desn’t mean the brain isn’t affected by the effects f time. Just as height usually declines ver
the years, s des brain vlume: Humans lse abut 4 percent every decade starting in their 40s. But that reductin
desn’t necessarily make peple think slwer; as lng as we are alive and functining, we can change ur brains
      with new infrmatin and experiences.
C.Brains may refresh and imprve with learning.
D.Brains make cnnectins under gd physical cnditins.
63.What is ne thing that helps maintain the health f ur brain even as it shrinks?
A.Ding daily rutines by cnventinal means.
B.Aviding wrrying abut ur mental strength.
C.Imitating ld dgs’ way f learning new tricks.
D.Appraching everyday tasks in nvel ways.
64.What des the authr say can cntribute t the imprvement f brain functin?
      A.Being curius and desiring knwledge.
In fact, scientists nw suspect accumulating nvel experiences, facts, and skills can keep peple’s minds mre
flexible. New pathways can strengthen ur ever-changing mental structure, even as the brain shrinks.
Cnventinal ways like wrd puzzles and brain-training apps can cntribute t mental durability. Even
smething as simple as taking a different rute t the grcery stre r ging smewhere new n vacatin can keep
      the brain healthy.
B.Being eager t pass brain tests at an ld age.
      C.Rising t life’s challenges and aviding risks.
D.Bsting immunity t serius mental diseases

C.Desiring new experiences can help t refresh the brain.
D.Learning new tricks shuld nt be cnfined t ld dgs nly.
      D
A desire fr new life challenges can further bst brainpwer. Research abut aging adults wh take n new
enterprises shws imprved functin and memry as well as a reduced risk f mental disease. Openness —a,
characteristic defined by curisity and a desire fr knwledge — may als help flks pass brain tests. Sme flks
are brn with this take-in-the-wrld attitude, but thse wh aren’t as genetically gifted aren’t necessarily ut f luck.
While genes can encurage an interest in ding new things a 2012 study in the jurnal Psychlgy and Aging fund
cmpleting reasning tasks like puzzles and number games can enhance that desire fr nvel experiences, which can,
in turn, refresh the brain. That’s why brain scientist Richard Kennedy says “It’s nt that ld dgs can’t learn new
tricks. It’s that maybe ld dgs dn’t realize why they shuld.”
Ralph Emersn nce said that the purpse f life is nt t be happy, but t be useful, t be lving, t make
sme difference in the wrld. While we appreciate such wrds f wisdm, we rarely try t fllw them in ur lives.
Mst peple prefer t live a gd life themselves, ignring their respnsibilities fr the wrld. This narrw
perceptin f a gd life may prvide shrt-term benefits, but is sure t lead t lng-term harm and suffering. A
gd life based n cmfrt and luxury may eventually lead t mre pain because we spil ur health and even ur

The first requirement fr a gd life is having a lving heart. When we d certain right things merely as a
duty, we find ur jb s tiresme that we'll sn burn ut. Hwever, when we d that same jb ut f lve, we nt
nly enjy what we d, but als d it with an effrtless feeling.

When I was in schl, the class I dreaded mst was my eighth grade art class. The teacher put dwn my every
attempt at cmpleting an assignment. I simply culdn’t prduce art the way she wanted it. Luckily, I’d already
prven myself in ther creative areas. Yet, that art teacher was successful in cnvincing me that I had n talent fr
painting, drawing, r anything related t them. Imagine my surprise when I published my nature phtgraphy and
      became a vlunteer art teacher!
Hwever, lve alne is insufficient t lead a gd life. Lve smetimes blinds us t the reality. Cnsequently,
ur gd intentins may nt lead t gd results. T achieve desired utcme, thse wh want t d gd t thers
als need t equip themselves with accurate wrld knwledge. False knwledge is mre dangerus than ignrance.
If lve is the engine f a car, knwledge is the steering wheel (方向盘). If the engine lacks pwer, the car can’t
mve; if the driver lses cntrl f the steering, a rad accident prbably ccurs. Only with lve in heart and the
right knwledge in mind can we lead a gd life.
Unfrtunately, my stry is all t familiar t many peple wh cme thrugh my wrkshps and practice. Even
mre unfrtunately, the vast majrity f peple were s discuraged in childhd that they cut ff the creative
impulse (冲动) in mst areas f their lives. Their teachers, parents, r classmates cnvinced them they had n talent,
s they gave up. The pain f failure was simply t great.
With lve and knwledge, we g all ut t create a better wrld by ding gd t thers. When we see the
impact f ur gd wrk n the wrld, we give meaning t ur life and earn lasting jy and happiness.

6.What effect des the narrw perceptin f a gd life have n us?
Why have we frgtten creativity is an experience, nt a result? Let’s cnsider why we express creativity in
first place. T be creative is t be human. Everything we’ve at ur dispsal (处理) is the result f smene’s creative
expressin and willingness t take a risk. Even s, fr creativity t flwer and feel free f encumbrance (累赘), it
needs t be abut the jyful mments spent creating, nt just abut what we’ve t shw fr thse mments.
Whatever pattern yu need t break, try t make it abut the pleasure and nt abut the utcme.
Therefre, I’d urge yu t curb yur perfectinism nt enthusiasm! Perfectinism is the leading killer f artistic
expressin. Relax a little and bring back yur childlike nature when yu create. Children instinctively (本能地)
knw hw t give ver t the jy --- until smene teaches them therwise! Let yur creatin be whatever it wants
t be. See if it can lead yu rather than the ther way arund. Let yur uncnsciusness cme thrugh, and let the
expressin f yurself be beautiful regardless f hw it cmpares t anything else. After all, it’s yurs, and n ne
      but yu culd create it!
