One weekend last summer, I paid a visit t the Sahara Desert with my byfriend David. Befre we went t the Sahara Desert, we had heard abut the sandstrms there. But we didn’t believe we wuld be s unlucky t experience ne.

Other tall structures, such as pwer lines and cell twers, als lead t many bird deaths.
Buildings are a special challenge fr migrating birds. The windws can reflect things like the sky r trees, causing birds t fly directly int the glass. And many birds migrate at night. As a result, the difficulty in migrating is amplified at night. That is because the bright city lights can cnfuse birds that are nrmally guided by the stars.
Philadelphia gt a sad reminder f that last Octber when thusands f migrating birds were killed in ne night. Over 1,000 birds were believed t have died in just ne small area. Scientists still aren’t sure what made that night s bad, but it may have been cnnected with the lw cluds ver the city at the time.

In this case, rewards are greater fr teens, which makes them want t seek higher-risk experiences.
But Steinberg thught peer pressure might als have its psitive side. In the latest study, Steinberg’s team used a card game t research hw peers influence the way yung peple gather and apply infrmatin. It included 101 teenage bys wh played either alne r with three peers. They chse cards frm fur decks (牌堆): tw decks had “gd” cards, and tw “bad” nes. Players with peers were mre willing t take risks, trying t figure ut which decks culd help them t win. The results shwed that teens playing with their peers d mre explratry behavir, learn faster and achieve better perfrmance n the task than thse playing alne.
