When I was in middle schl, I met my English literature teacher, wh was new t teaching. She was nly 22 but she always did her best t make learning fun. She wuld give us a special mini-ntebk fr every student’s birthday. I had this simple small ntebk. She had filled the first few pages telling me hw much she lved having me as a student, hw far she knew I wuld g, and ther affirmatins. It seemed small but fr a 13-year-ld child wh had a hard hme life, it meant a lt!
In my junir year f high schl, in ne English class, we were discussing a stry when ne student called Carl made a cmment. The teacher was dismissive (不屑一顾的) and said Carl was wrng. The next day, the teacher said he was wrng t dismiss what Carl said s quickly. “Let’s take a lk at that again.” After the discussin, it became clear that Carl’s cmment was indeed unreasnable, but I was impressed that the teacher recgnized his mistake publicly and did what he shuld.
When I was in Grade One, my mther gave me ne really dd haircut. On the first day back at schl, the kids laughed at me, s I ran ut and hid. The headmaster fund me and tk me back. He asked me t wait utside fr a minute while he talked t the class. The next day, we had a meeting with the whle schl and he walked up n the stage with all his hair cut and criticized (批评) the bad behavir.

On a cld day in February 2012, tw hunters in eastern Russia discvered a tiger cub (幼兽) lying in the snw. It was abut 3 mnths ld. “It hadn’t eaten fr days and was frzen. It was t weak,” remembered Dr. Dale Miquelle, directr f the Wildlife Cnservatin Sciety’s Russia Prgram. The cub was sent t a lcal wildlife bserver wh cared it back t health.
The cub was an Amur tiger. “Only abut 400 Amur tigers are still living in the wrld. In the past, we always sent cubs t zs,” said Dr. Miquelle. “Nw we have a way t give them a secnd chance at life in the wild.” He and his c-wrker tk the cub t a new wildlife center which was designed fr raising wild animals withut peple living arund. It uses hidden cameras and cvered fences (围栏) t keep wrkers ut f sight. That way, the animal desn’t lse its natural instincts (本能) r becme dependent n humans. In the center, the cub, nw named Zlushka, learned t hunt and grew up int a big healthy tiger.
By the spring f 2013, experts agreed Zlushka was ready t return t the wild. They set it free in the Bastak Nature Reserve in the area, where there used t be tigers 50 years ag but they have died ut.“Their survival (存活) rests nly in the hands f humans,” said Dr. Miquelle.
During the next tw years, researchers watched Zlushka’s prgress. They set up cameras t take phts f Zlushka. Zlushka nt nly survived, but als thrived. Then, in December 2015, the cameras shwed exciting news: Zlushka had becme a mther! Fr the first time ever, a tiger that humans had raised and returned t the wild had given birth t tw cubs f her wn.
