III. Teaching Prcedures
1. Lead - in (5 minutes)
Activity: Shw sme pictures f emtins and situatins, e.g., a hpeful child, a helpless animal. Ask students t describe them with simple wrds, then intrduce the idea that we can use suffixes t frm new adjectives.
Purpse: Aruse students’ interest and lead in the tpic f suffixes -ful and -less.
2. Presentatin (8 minutes)
Explanatin: Present the basic rule: We can add the suffix -ful r -less t sme nuns t frm adjectives. -ful means “full f”, -less means “withut”.
Examples: Use the textbk examples, like “care → careful/careless”, “hpe → hpeful/hpeless”, and explain hw the meaning changes with the suffixes.
3. Practice (15 minutes)
Task A: Guide students t d Task A. Wrk in pairs t cmplete the table. Walk arund t help. After finishing, check answers as a class, discussing which nuns can take the suffixes and which cannt.
Task B: Fr Task B, have students read Daniel’s diary entry. Ask them t add the crrect suffix -ful r -less t the nuns in brackets. First, let students try individually, then check answers tgether, explaining the chices.
4. Prductin (10 minutes)
Task C: Ask students t d Task C. First, have them cllect mre wrds with -ful r -less (can use dictinaries). Then, let them describe an experience with a friend using these wrds. Invite sme students t share their descriptins, giving psitive feedback and crrectins.
5. Summary (3 minutes)
Teacher’s Summary: Recap the rules f frming adjectives with -ful and -less, and emphasize the key pints f crrect usage.
Student’s Reflectin: Ask ne r tw students t share what they’ve learned and what new wrds they’ve mastered.
IV. Hmewrk (4 minutes)
Wrd Cllectin: Ask students t find 5 mre nuns that can frm adjectives with -ful r -less, write dwn the nuns and adjectives.
Writing: Have students write a shrt stry (at least 5 sentences) using as many -ful and -less adjectives as pssible, describing a day with friends.
