In the heart f the Netherlands, a simple pt f tmat sup is simmering (煨), nt just with flavrs but with the warmth f human cnnectin. As a student vlunteer, I, Lt Wlff, std shulder t shulder with elderly flks at a cmmunity center, chpping tmates, mincing garlic, and tearing spinach leaves. The air was filled with the flavur f ingredients and the rhythmic chatter f newfund friends.
This initiative, Oma’s Sep, was the brainchild f Max Kranendijk. He explained, “In the Netherlands, grandmas are kitchen legends when it cmes t sups. Their recipes are like family treasures, passed dwn thrugh generatins.” Our gal was straightfrward yet prfund: t cut dwn lneliness amng the elderly.
Yung vlunteers like me carried bags f ingredients t cmmunity centers and retirement hmes. The kitchen became a vibrant (充满活力的) place where age melted away. Maurice, an elderly participant, smiled and shared, “Lneliness is a heavy burden, but here, every mment is a delight. It’s a beautiful way t spend the day.” His wrds eched the mds f everyne present.
As we stirred the sup tgether, stries flwed freely. Lenny, an elderly wman with a twinkle in her eye, laughed, “Old flks ften cmplain abut aches and pains, but yung peple bring life! I lve hearing their tales frm the utside wrld — the gssip, the adventures. It’s like a breath f fresh air.”
Nw, Oma’s Sep has expanded beynd ur cking sessins. The sup is sld in shps acrss the Netherlands, with half f the prfits cntributed t further slving lneliness. It’s heartwarming t see hw a simple bwl f sup has becme a symbl f unity, breaking dwn barriers and fstering meaningful cnnectins between generatins. This initiative truly deserves praise “tw thumbs up”!
      4. In paragraph 1, what des the “warmth f human cnnectin” refer t?

In the vast, icy landscapes f Antarctica, Adélie penguins g abut their lives, unaware that their pp (排泄物) culd play a crucial rle in the fight against climate change. This unexpected discvery has pened up new perspectives n the cmplicated relatinship between wildlife and the planet’s climate system.
Scientists frm the University f Helsinki have fund that ammnia (氨气) in penguin pp cmbines with air mlecules (分子) t frm tiny particles, which act as clud cndensatin nuclei (凝结核). These nuclei are essential fr clud frmatin. Cluds, in turn, reflect sunlight back int space, effectively cling the Earth. This cling effect is especially significant ver the ceans, where the dark water absrbs a large amunt f slar radiatin. In a 60,000-penguin clny, ammnia levels can reach 1,000 times the backgrund standard. Given that plar regins lack cmmn nuclei surces like dust, penguin pp fills a vital gap in the natural clud-frming prcess.
Hwever, the impact f cluds n the climate is tw-fld. While they help cl the Earth by reflecting sunlight, ver snw-cvered areas, cluds can als trap heat near the surface, acting like a blanket. Scientists are still wrking t understand hw these cntrasting effects balance ut acrss different envirnments.
Climate change pses a direct threat t this delicate balance. As sea temperatures rise and cean ecsystems change, the ppulatin f krill, the main fd surce fr penguins, may decline. A decrease in krill means less fd fr penguins, which culd lead t a reductin in their numbers. Cnsequently, the amunt f ammnia-rich pp wuld decrease, ptentially weakening the clud-cling prcess that helps regulate the planet’s temperature.
This discvery highlights the intercnnectedness f all life n Earth. Every species, n matter hw small, cntributes t maintaining the balance f ur ecsystem. T fight with climate change, we must take actin.
      8. Why is penguin pp particularly imprtant fr clud frmatin in plar regins?
      A. Plar ceans absrb less slar radiatin than ther areas.
      B. Plar regins dn’t have cmmn clud-frming “seeds” like dust.
      C. The ammnia in their pp can trap heat like a blanket.
      D. Penguin grups in Antarctica make 1,000 times mre ammnia than ther animals.
      9. What des the underlined wrd “tw-fld” mean?
      A. Cluds perfrm bth cling and heating effects.
      B. Cluds functin t trap heat ver plar regins.
      C. Cluds keep heat during day and night cycles.
      D. Cluds rely n ammnia fr their existence.
      10. Hw des climate change endanger the clud-cling prcess?
      A. Thrugh a direct rise in sea temperature.
      B. By decreasing the ppulatins f krill and penguins.
      C. By altering cluds t trap excessive heat.
      D. By transfrming the chemical prperties f penguin pp.
      11. What is the main purpse f the last paragraph?
      A. T present detailed research findings.
      B. T discuss varius climate change impacts.
      C. T advcate envirnmental prtectin actins.
      D. T illustrate species interdependence.

      第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
      阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Have yu ever kept a secret that felt like a weight in yur heart? Mst f us have.
Secrecy is mre than silence — it’s a chice t withhld (扣留) specific infrmatin. Cnsider a high schl student struggling with math but hiding his/ her difficulties, fearing thers will see him/her as incapable. ___16___.
___17___. Take Li Wei fr example, wh hid his cncern abut his height, wrrying friends wuld laugh at him. Irnically, it’s nt the act f hiding that harms mst — it’s the “thinking” abut the secret during quiet mments, like lying awake at night, which fuels shame and islatin.
Why d secrets cnfuse us? Our brains treat unreslved issues as urgent. Chen Lin nce lied abut finishing a grup prject n time. Even after the prject ended, her mind replayed the lie, making her feel guilty and distant frm friends. Studies fund that the mre we “mind-wander” t secrets, the mre ur happiness suffers. ___18___.
Secrets can stress relatinships, but nt always. In healthy friendships, like Xia Yue planning a surprise birthday party fr her best friend, secrets can strengthen trust. ___19___. But hiding mistakes — like cheating n a test — breeds guilt and destrys self-respect. Pr relatinships ften “cause” harmful secrets (like a bullied student hiding pain), wrsening bth the secret and the bnd.
Hw can we cpe? There are three methds. Namely, regulating emtins, slving prblems psitively and sharing wisely. Zhang Ha jurnaled t ease pian exam shame; Liu Ying sught tutring instead f hiding scres; Liang Min shared her fear f public speaking with a teacher, turning it int a shared gal. As experts suggest, “___20___. The key t happiness may lie in knwing when t stay silent — and when t speak yur truth.”
      A. This “intentin” t hide creates stress even befre he/ she faces questins.
      B. What kinds f secrets d we keep?
      C. These thughts create a silent burden, making us feel alne in ur struggles.
      D. “Gd secrets” (like kindness plans) feel exciting, nt exhausting.
      E. Secrets are part f grwing up, but they dn’t have t cntrl us.
      F. Teens ften hide feelings like insecurities abut appearance r fancy.
      G. Immral secrets trigger the mst shame.
