Ecver is calling fr a change in ur laundry habits after research fund peple felt under scietal pressure t wash their clthes mre frequently, and were unaware that this culd damage the envirnment. The brand, in partnership with Falmuth University, is publishing a reprt this week int the impact f laundry n the envirnment. The researchers fund that 18% f the 2,000 Britns interviewed fr the reprt in August believed — wrngly — that washing less frequently wuld nt affect the planet. One in 10 feel pressure t d laundry mre frequently.
The reprt als fund that 75% f participants in recent studies mentined fear f judgment frm thers fr wearing the same clthes multiple days in a rw. Mdel and envirnmental activist Lily Cle, wh will chair a panel discussin n the findings in Lndn this week, said she had experienced this. “The attitude has changed in recent years, but I was in the sidebar f shame a few times fr wearing the same lk n the red carpet,” she said.
Figures frm the Office fr Natinal Statistics (ONS) shwed the number f wash lads in the UK increased by 9.6% frm 6.2bn t 6.8bn between 2005 and 2014. By 2016, the ONS estimated that each husehld was respnsible fr 260 wash lads a year. Pllutin frm detergent (洗涤剂) causes serius risks t natural ecsystems. Changes t the materials used t make mdern clthes have exacerbated the prblem — washing clthes made frm man-made fabrics accunts fr abut 8% f the micrplastics released int ur water.
Dr. Cui Su, frm the schl f cmmunicatin, Falmuth University, wh wrked n the reprt said: “Fr decades, ur relatinship with laundry has been shaped by pwerful cultural frces and advertising that have cnditined us t believe that ‘perfectly clean’ is the nly acceptable standard. Frm the smell f freshly washed clthes t the freshness f fabrics, cleanliness has been presented nt just as a necessity, but as a reflectin f success.”

      C. Views n cleanliness haven’t changed.D. We are misled abut perfect cleanliness.
      11. Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the article?

      C. Laundry Trends and the Rise f Micrplastics
      D. Clean Clthes, Dirty Envirnment: Rethinking Laundry
C 9. D 10. D 11. D
根据文章第一段“The researchers fund that 18% f the 2,000 Britns interviewed fr the reprt in August believed—wrngly—that washing less frequently wuld nt affect the planet. 再根据第二段“The reprt als fund that 75% f participants in recent studies mentined fear f judgment frm thers fr wearing the same clthes multiple days in a rw.(十分之一的人表示,他们感到有压力需要更频繁地洗衣服。)”
再根据划线单词下文“washing clthes made frm man-made fabrics accunts fr abut 8% f the micrplastics released int ur water.(洗涤由人造纤维制成的衣物会导致约 8% 的微塑料释放到我们的水中)”可推测,现代衣物所用材料的改变加剧了污染问题。
Frm the smell f freshly washed clthes t the freshness f fabrics, cleanliness has been presented nt just as a necessity, but as a reflectin f success.”(法尔茅斯大学传播学院的Cui Su博士参与了这份报告的撰写,她说:“几十年来,强大的文化力量和广告一直在塑造我们与洗衣的关系,让我们相信‘绝对干净’是唯一可接受的标准。
根据文章第一段“Ecver is calling fr a change in ur laundry habits after research fund peple felt under scietal pressure t wash their clthes mre frequently, and were unaware that this culd damage the envirnment.(Ecver 在一项研究后发现,人们因感受到社会压力而更频繁地洗涤衣物,且未意识到这种行为会对环境造成破坏,于是呼吁大家改变洗衣习惯。)”

由上文“S, what des it take t be great? I thrughly reject the ‘10 years, 10,000 hurs’ ntin that anyne can be an expert if they just put in enugh time.(那么,怎样才能成为伟大的人呢? The reality is that genes matter, whether inbrn intelligence r inbrn physical talent.(事实上,基因很重要,无论是天生的智力还是天生的身体天赋。)
由上文“Anther reality thugh is that yu can’t cntrl yur genes. If yu received gd nes frm yur parents thank them. If yu didn’t, dn’t blame yur parents because they didn’t chse their genes either. Instead, let it g and fcus n what yu can cntrl.(相反,不必追究它,专注于你能控制的事情。) 故选A项。

由下文“What this means is that yu need inbrn ability t be great, but it isn’t enugh. Inbrn ability is a necessary but nt sufficient cntributr t greatness.(天生的能力是伟大的必要因素,但还不够。)
由上文“Talent is nly the starting pint t greatness and, if yu’ re frtunate enugh t have wn the genetic lttery, it puts yu ahead f the field at the beginning the race t be great. But, f curse, races aren’t wn at the start, but at the finish(但是,当然,比赛不是在开始时获胜,而是在结束时获胜)符合语境,其中at the start与上文at the beginning对应,at the finish与下文get t the finish 对应,所以本句有承上启下作用。故选B项。
由下文“I define that as fully realizing whatever ability yu were brn with. That inbrn ability may nt be enugh t be a superstar in yur area f achievement, but, if yu d what is necessary, yu will find a reasnable level f success.(我将其定义为充分认识到你与生俱来的任何能力。
