Thmpsn's students cme frm areas where trash litters thestreets, and recycling bins are rare. "Many f these kids have never been taught the imprtance f recycling," Thmpsn says. "When we started, they thught recycling was just an extra chre, and they didn't see the pint." But with patience and creativity, Thmpsn has managed t change their perspectives.
The Ec-Warrirs prgram inylves hands-n activities such as srting recyclable materials,creating art frm recycled items, and visiting lcal recycling plants. In additin t these activities, students are encuraged t start recycling initiatives(倡议)at hme. As part f their curse, they learn abut the envirnmental impactf waste and the benefits f recycling.
Surveys cnducted at the end f each schl year reveal that students' attitudes tward recycling have significantly imprved. "We have students wh have cnvinced their families t start recycling at hme,"Thmpsn reprts. "It's amazing t see hw passinate they've becme."
Mrever, the prgram has psitively influenced students' behavir beynd recycling. Teachers have nticed a decline in littering arund the schl and an increase in envirnmental club memberships. “It's nt just abut recycling anymre," Thmpsn says. "The kids are learning t take care f their cmmunity and the planet."
