I was visiting my parents in 2003 when my mm came ut f their rm with a puzzled lk n her face. Rte memrizatin is when we repeat a piece f infrmatin until we remember it. One great example f it is the alphabet (字母表). When we are little, we dn’t necessarily understand that ur language is cmpsed f the letters A t Z. But we memrize them in a specific rder because we are taught t, and then we knw the alphabet.
There are situatins in which rte memrizatin can be helpful. “Rte memrizatin can be a useful learning tl in sme situatins, but its effectiveness depends n the type f infrmatin being learned and hw it is applied,” says Dr. Aldrich Chan, neurpsychlgist. He tells us that rte memrizatin helps us quickly recall basic facts and infrmatin such as vcabulary wrds r math frmulas (公式). This can be particularly helpful in situatins where immediate access t infrmatin is required, like during exams.
The act f memrizing thrugh repetitin als has its dwnsides. Chan ntes that “rte memrizatin ften des nt prmte a deep understanding f the material.
