Gssip is a funny thing. It can be yur best friend r yur wrst enemy. Casual gssip gets everyne talking and makes the wrld feel smaller, while negative gssip can leave peple feeling hurt. Thugh we can’t always avid it, we can chse t jin in psitive gssip, by deliberately (故意地) spreading psitivity behind peple’s backs.
Let me invite yur imaginatin t a curse in the Case Western Reserve University when we needed t d an exercise in pairs. My partner, Jeff, listened clsely t me with humble curisity. As fr me, instead f appreciating his stry, I judged it against mine. When smene asked hw it went, I cmmented that Jeff’s stry was uninspiring — classic negative gssip, masked with pliteness. The next day, when Jeff heard that I wanted t sell my wrk in America, he went abve and beynd. He invited me t a CEO dinner, drve me thrugh a rainstrm, and intrduced me t every key player, shwing pure genersity. Reflecting n this, I felt a wave f guilt. Here I was, badmuthing his stry, while Jeff had been nthing but kind.
The lessn wasn’t abut Jeff’s stry needing revisin; it was abut my mindset. I decided never t jin in negative gssip again and reverse (颠倒) it. Yu will never knw that psitivity wrks wnders until yu try it. Researchers reveal that psitive gssip bsts trust, deepens relatinships, and creates an envirnment where infrmatin flws freely. It’s like the “Easter egg”, which is hidden but delightful when we hear abut it.
If yu want t create a culture f respect, it starts with the wrds yu chse. Spread psitivity and recgnize thers’ strengths. What yu say behind smene’s back desn’t just affect them — it shapes hw thers will remember yu.

Can an AI ChatBt enhance persnal creativity? Supprters f artificial intelligence see it as an inspiratin, but critics dubt it, saying it des little mre than remix existing wrk.
T gather data n this questin, Oliver Hauser, an ecnmist at the University f Exeter, and Anil Dshi at University Cllege Lndn’s Schl f Management invited 300 nn-prfessinal writers t write an eight-sentence stry. One-third f the participants needed t generate ideas independently, while thers received starter ideas frm ChatGPT 4.0. The assisted grup was divided int tw: ne received a single AI-generated idea, and the ther culd chse frm up t five. Mst imprtantly, bth the human-nly and AI-assisted grups had t write the stries themselves.
Assessed by 600 evaluatrs (评价者), each stry were graded n “nvelty” and “usefulness”. Nvelty reflected riginality, while usefulness shwed if the stry was f publishable quality. Accrding t the results, AI-assisted stries scred higher in bth categries. Writers with access t ne AI idea perfrmed better, but thse with five ideas saw the mst imprvement — abut 8% mre nvel and 9% mre useful than independent stries. But there’s a plt twist: When Hauser and Dshi lked at all the stries, they fund a different effect. “Generally speaking, there was a smaller diversity f nvelty in the grup that had AI,” Hauser says.
In ther wrds, while the chatbt enhanced creativity individually, it reduced the verall creativity f the AI-assisted grup. Hauser describes this a “classic scial dilemma” where individuals benefit, but the grup suffers. “We d wrry that, at large scale, if many peple are using this... verall the diversity and creativity in the ppulatin will g dwn,” he says.
Annalee Newitz, a science fictin authr and jurnalist, pinted ut that he wuldn’t blame anyne wh tried using AI t write a stry. Hwever, he thinks these tls miss the pint f writing. Creative writing is “humans cmmunicating with ther humans,” Newitz says. “Even if smething is badly written — even if nt very creative — if it’s written by a human, then it’s fulfilling its purpse”.
32.What can we learn abut Hauser and Dshi’s study?
A.Each participant’s stry was graded by prfessinals.
B.Nt all the participants needed t generate ideas independently.
C.Each participant’s stry was evaluated n three different aspects.
D.Human-nly stries were as nvel and useful as AI-assisted stries.

C.AI is imprtant fr imprving the quality f creative wrks.
D.The pint f creative writing lies in human-t-human cmmunicatin.
35.What can be a suitable title fr the text?

主语“Chinese peple”是复数,所以用“have made”(现在完成时)或 “have been making”(现在完成进行时)。故填have made /have been making。
分析句子结构,“It was nt until... that...” 是强调句的固定句型,强调的是时间状语 “nt until the 17th and 18th centuries”,强调句的基本结构为 “It is/was + 被强调部分 + that/wh + 其他部分”,当被强调部分是物时用 “that”,所以此处用 “that”。故填that。
“ 6 it was knwn as kecap r ketjap” 是一个非限制性定语从句,先行词是“China and Sutheast Asia”,在从句中作地点状语,所以用关系副词 “where”引导该从句。故填where。
“the sauce was cnsidered amazing” 和 “finally became a fixed part f the bring British cuisine”是两个并列的动作,所以用并列连词 “and” 连接。故填and。
故填a。
