I presented a grup prject t my classmates. The first questin asked was, “What wrds d yu assciate with rural educatin?” Sme f the respnses were psitive. Others accurately prtrayed a few f the negatives like “islated” and “underfunded.” But I was surprised that sme used wrds like “hillbillies” and “hicks” (乡巴佬). Previusly, I felt prud f myself as a student frm rural West Virginia. But at that mment, my pride sank. Fr a place that claims t welcme all, the Brwn University has actually left its rural students feeling lked dwn upn.
Fr a while, I never mentined where I called hme unless it was abslutely necessary. By the third mnth f my first year, I was prepared t transfer ut f Brwn and finish cllege at a schl where I wuld be surrunded by peple like me, peple frm rural cmmunities. Then I realized that this respnse was just the ne that my trmentrs expected.
Nw I have decided t fight back. We need t change. But this deeply-rted culture wn’t change n its wn. The University and its nn-rural students can’t and wn’t d it. S it is up t us, the rural students, t make a difference. S rural students, talk with yur lng, drawn-ut accent, defend yur hmetwn f hard-wrking peple and cndemn (谴责) the ignrance that attempts t deny yur persnhd. We must uplift ther rural students in their academic and prfessinal careers. We must be the nes t supprt each ther.
What we need is a club fr that exact purpse. A rural students’ cllective is the frmal meeting place that we need and deserve. In an institutin where rural students feel lst and deserted, we will sn find a cmmn grund fr each ther.
Fr the nn-rural students and faculty wndering hw t supprt us, dn’t stick t yur steretypes (刻板印象) that rural students are dumb, ignrant and unintelligent. On the cntrary, we are valuable, deserving and hard-wrking individuals. Brwn’s faculty and students shuld welcme and embrace ur cntributins.
4. Hw did the writer feel after presenting the grup prject?
A. Frustrated.B. Prud.C. Angry.D. Cnfused.
5. What grup f students des the underlined wrd “trmentrs” in Paragraph 2 prbably refer t?

B. Thse wh are determined t make a change.
C. Thse wh used wrds like “hillbillies” and “hicks” in their remarks.
D. Thse wh assciated rural educatin with “islated” and “underfunded” .
6. Hw des the writer think rural students shuld fight back?
A. They shuld turn t the cllege authrity fr help.
B. They shuld unite and reach ut t assist each ther.
C. They need t setup a special club fr all the students.

Shuld dctrs ever lie t benefit their patient — t speed recvery r t cver the cming f death? In medicine as in law, gvernment, and ther lines f wrk, the requirements f hnesty ften seem dwarfed (变矮小) by greater needs: the need t prtect frm brutal news r t uphld a prmise f secrecy; t advance the public interest.
What shuld dctrs say, fr example, t a 46-year-ld man cming in fr a rutine physical checkup just befre ging n vacatin with his family wh, thugh he feels in perfect health, is fund t have a frm f cancer that will cause him t die within six mnths? Is it best t tell him the truth? If he asks, shuld the dctr reject that he is ill, r minimize fee gravity f the illness? Shuld they at least hide the truth until after the family vacatin?
Dctrs face such chices ften. At times they see imprtant reasns t lie fr the patient’s wn sake; in their eyes, such lies differ sharply frm self-serving nes.
Studies shw that mst dctrs sincerely believe that the seriusly ill patients d nt want t knw the truth abut their cnditin, and that infrming them risks destrying their hpe, s that they may recver mre slwly, r deterirate (恶化) faster, perhaps even cmmit suicide (自杀).
But ther studies shw that, cntrary t the belief f many physicians; a great majrity f patients d want t be tld the truth, even abut serius illness, and feel cheated when they learn that they have been misled. We are als learning that truthful infrmatin, humanly cnveyed, helps patients cpe with illness: help them tlerate pain better, need less medicine, and even recver faster after peratin.
There is urgent need t debate this issue penly. Nt nly in medicine, but in ther prfessins as well, practitiners may find themselves repeatedly in difficulty where serius cnsequences seem avidable nly thrugh deceptin (欺骗). Yet the public has every reasn t knw prfessinal deceptin, fr such practices are peculiarly likely t becme deeply rted, t spread, and t trust. Neither in medicine, nr in law, gvernment, r the scial sciences can there be cmfrt in the ld saying, “What yu dn’t knw can’t hurt yu.”
8. What is the passage mainly abut?
A. Whether patients really want t knw the truth f their cnditin.
B. Whether patients shuld be tld the truth f their illness.

D. advise him t cancel the family vacatin

11. Frm the passage, we can learn that the authr’s attitude t prfessinal deceptin is ____.
A. supprtiveB. indifferent
C. ppsedD. neutral
D
Mbile devices use facial recgnitin technlgy t help users quickly and securely unlck their phnes, make a financial deal r access medical recrds. But facial recgnitin technlgies that use a specific user-detectin methd are highly vulnerable (脆弱的) t deepfake (深度伪造) attacks.

“Additinally, an increasing number f clud platfrms have begun t prvide facial liveness verificatin, which significantly reduces the cst and lwers the barrier fr cmpanies t use the technlgy in their prducts. Therefre, the security f facial liveness verificatin is highly cncerning.”
12. The wide use f facial recgnitin technlgy is encuraged by all the facts EXCEPT _______ .
A. its cnvenience t unlck phnesB. its easy access t ur medical recrds
C. its cmbinatin with deepfake technlgyD. its security cncerning ur financial deals
13. What can we learn abut LiveBugger?
A. It is a destructive cmputer virus.
B. It is a facial liveness verificatin applicatin.
C. It creates ppular live-lking facial images and vides.
D It is a framewrk testing facial liveness verificatin applicatins.
14. What is Wang’s attitude tward facial liveness verificatin?
A. Wrried.B. Negative.C. Supprtive.D. Dubtful.
15. Which serves as the best title fr the passage?
A. LiveBugger: an attack framewrk pwered by deepfakes
B. A discvery that may cause panic in the wrld f technlgy
