    After a lng day at wrk, Yuan Hui, a vlunteer teacher in a village in Enshi, Hubei prvince, decided t stay back in the ffice until late. This is the 10th year f his vlunteer teaching career in the Cuntryside.
    Lcated deep in the muntains, the village was struck by pverty. Despite all challenges, Yuan believes that it was a precius experience grwing up amng his students. “I did nt cme here n a whim. I lve teaching frm the bttm f my heart,” says Yuan, wh teaches a variety f curses, including histry, gegraphy and music, in different primary and middle schls in Enshi.
    “Since I was a high schl student, I've dreamed f being a vlunteer teacher. Different frm the traditinal teaching style, I feel there is anther way, and I hpe t have the pprtunity t put my ideas int practice,” he says, adding that his teaching may have a greater impact n students living in muntain villages with limited educatin resurces. “Spreading jy and knwledge amng thers makes me feel satisfied.     When Yuan first started teaching, he visited every student's family n the weekends. “Mst f them were left-behind children, and sme were frm single-parent families,” says Yuan. He decided t help the children with their studies by develping gd habits. “In such cases, it's imprtant t help them build up their cnfidence,” says Yuan. T achieve that gal, Yuan designed a lt f activity-based curses, encuraging children t express themselves mre cnfidently.     The medals, designed by the luxury Paris jewelry huse Chaumet, make peple think f the Eiffel Twer in several ther ways. The pieces f irn are secured by what lks like special nails that hld the structure tgether, and the medals’ ribbns are decrated with patterns f the twer’s latticewrk structure.

    Researchers have develped a new sft rbt design that cnducts itself with three behaviurs at the same time: rlling (翻滚) frward, turning like a recrd and fllwing a path that ges arund a central pint. The device, which perates withut human r cmputer cntrl, hlds prmise fr develping sft rbts that can be used t navigate (导航) and map unknwn envirnments.
    The new sft rbts are called twisted ring-bts (扭曲环机器人). They are made f smething like the ribbn (缎带) and then jined tgether at the end t frm a ring.
    When the rbts are placed n a surface that is at least 55 degrees Celsius, which is htter than the surrunding air, ne part f the ribbn tuching the surface becmes smaller, while ne part in the air des nt. This induces a rlling mvement: the warmer the surface, the faster the rbt rlls. “The ribbn rlls n its hrizntal axis (横轴) , giving the ring frward strength,” says Jie Yin, a prfessr f mechanical and aerspace engineering.
