Scientists find when tiny plastics end up in farm fields, the pllutin can impair plant grwth. The pair met in a research design class at the Fryeburg Academy, a high schl in Maine. May had wanted t explre hw micrplastics might affect the ecsystem. Jiwn was fascinated by plants and fungi. May and Jiwn planted mre than 2,000 scallin (韭葱) seeds in pts f sil. Half the seeds gt sil plluted with micrplastics. The rest grew in plastic-free sil.
