Seagrass has usually been detected by Earth-rbiting satellites that identify darker patches in the blue water. In this study, tiger sharks were selected as research tls due t their highly cnsistent assciatins with seagrass ecsystems. They spend 70% f their time in seagrass meadws. The team equipped eight tiger sharks with satellite tags and used a 360-degree camera n them fr the first time ever.
The data researchers cllected was astnishing. The wrld’s largest seagrass ecsystem, measuring at least 66,900 square kilmeters, has been discvered.
