Fr Vishwanath Mallabadi frm Bangalre, India, there is n such thing as a uselessbject r “waste”. Give him anything— abandned metal r plastic items, ld devices, dysfunctinal printed circuit bards— and he'll create art ut f it.
Vishwanath's passin is particularly relevant in the current age, where India generates mre e-waste than it can recycle. Vishwanath's father, D M Shambhu, was a famus sculptr and painter, but he wanted his sn t chse medicine and becme a dctr. Hwever, Vishwanath, wh was interested in upcycling secnd-hand bjects right frm childhd, decided t pursue a BFA in Applied Art. He later went n t wrk in a cmpany as a high-level administratr and retired tw years ag. “In my free time and during the weekends, I used t cnduct experiments in e-waste and try t develp smething unique,” he recalled.

They cnsidered varius types f frests and parts f wd ging twards cnstructin. They als factred in the emissins savings frm replacing cncrete and steel.
Under sme circumstances, the researchers fund significant emissins reductins. But each case required what they cnsidered an unrealistically high prtin f the wd ging t wards cnstructin, as well as rapid grwth nly seen in warmer places, like Brazil. In general, they fund a large increase in glbal demand fr wd wuld prbably lead t rising emissins fr decades. Accunting fr emissins in this way, the researchers reprted in a related paper that increasing frest harvests between 2010 and 2050 wuld add emissins equal t rughly 10 percent f ttal annual emissins.

We all just stared at each ther withut saying a wrd. T make matters wrse, withut the engine, we were at the mercy f the sea. The waves were getting higher and the bat was taking in water, fast. Then, we gave up all hpe and thught.
Suddenly, we started t hear what seemed like the sund f a helicpter appraching. We all realized what it meant —we were ging t be safe after all! That thught gave us curage, and we started t yell at the tp f ur vices and t wave, trches in hands, with all ur might. Luckily it didn't take lng fr the rescue team t spt us. They cntrlled the helicpter a few feet abve ur heads and lwered dwn the rpe ladder, frm which we culd all climb t safety. Ntice
