She therefre sught' t insert a suitably lng-fibred substance.
Bamb seemed t be the best chice. It grws quickly /degrades readily and has apprpriately lng fibres. And it wrked. When the researchers blended bamb remaining int bagasse, they fund that the result had a strng crssing f shrt and lng fibres.
T put their new material thrugh its paces, Dr. Zhu and her clleagues first pured ht il nt it and fund that, rather than passing thrugh the material, as it wuld have with previus, bagasse prducts, the il was resisted by their inventin.

Shuld yu listen t music when yu wrk? Sme will say they lve it, claiming that it imprves their perfrmance; thers will say they cannt wrk effectively with music playing in the backgrund. 17 It just depends n what srt f wrk yu’re ding.
In a recent study, we brught participants int ur lab with a variety f tasks. They included an easy task — searching thrugh wrd lists and crssing ut wrds cntaining the letter “a” and a mre difficult task — memrizing wrd pairs and recalling the partner t each wrd. Sme participants cmpleted all f the tasks in silence, whereas thers cmpleted the tasks with instrumental music that was either lud r sft, and either simple r cmplex, the latter meaning music with mre instrumental tracks. 18
We fund that participants wh listened t simple music r n music perfrmed abut the same n the easy task. 19 Cntrarily, participants perfrmed wrse n the mre difficult task when they listened t any music, regardless f cmplexity r vlume, cmpared t thse wh didn’t listen t any music.
20 Nt surprisingly, we typically need t use fewer f ur mental resurces when we perfrm easy tasks, whereas demanding tasks require mre brainpwer. Hwever, because we might be less engaged during easier tasks, there’s a greater risk f drifting ff t sleep. A.What shuld we make f these findings?
B.Several key findings emerged frm ur study.
C.Hwever, difficult tasks already demand a lt f ur mental resurces.
D.Our research has fund that the effects f wrk may depend n ur persnalities.
E.We want t develp a mre cmprehensive framewrk that culd be applied brader.
F.Hwever, participants wh listened t cmplex music perfrmed best n the easy task.
G.Interestingly enugh, ur research has fund that bth f these perspectives can be true.

Sme participants cmpleted all f the tasks in silence, whereas thers cmpleted the tasks with instrumental music that was either lud r sft, and either simple r cmplex, the latter meaning music with mre instrumental tracks”主要介绍了实验参照组之间的区别还有实验流程,后段就开始阐述实验发现,可见题干肯定是总结实验获得了收获。
根据前句“We fund that participants wh listened t simple music r n music perfrmed abut the same n the easy task.(我们发现,听简单音乐或不听音乐的参与者在简单任务上的表现都差不多。)”和后句“Cntrarily, participants perfrmed wrse n the mre difficult task when they listened t any music, regardless f cmplexity r vlume, cmpared t thse wh didn’t listen t any music.( 相反,与没听音乐的人相比,听音乐的人在更难的任务上表现得更差,不管音乐的复杂性或音量大小。)” 所以选择项F“Hwever, participants wh listened t cmplex music perfrmed best n the easy task. (然而,听复杂音乐的参与者在简单任务上表现最好。)”符合上下文语境。故选F。
20.结合题干后文“Nt surprisingly, we typically need t use fewer f ur mental resurces when we perfrm easy tasks, whereas demanding tasks require mre brainpwer.” A“What shuld we make f these findings? (我们应该如何理解这些发现?)”符合上下文语境。故选A。
21.根据后文“Listening t music can becme verkill (过犹不及). S we have t strike a balance between the type f music and the type f task.(听音乐可能会变得过犹不及。所以我们必须在音乐类型和任务类型之间取得平衡。)”可知,复杂任务不适合听音乐,因为复杂任务本身就需要精神力消耗。所以选择项C“Hwever, difficult tasks already demand a lt f ur mental resurces. (然而,困难的任务已经需要我们大量的精神资源。)”符合上下文语境。故选C。
