A number f technlgies have been tested ver the years with different degrees f success, amng which the thermal camera (热传感相机) has wn its fame.
Pachers primarily perate at night under cver f darkness, getting int parks and reserves withut being nticed. Sme are killing wildlife fr persnal prfit, while thers are armed and backed by rganized crime. Often equipped with little mre than flashlights, gvernment and cmmunity rangers have n chance f stpping them.
But what if park rangers culd see in the dark? In an attempt t find a technlgy that can help rangers “see” at night, the WCTP identified thermal cameras as a slutin. The technlgy has cmpletely changed the way rangers perate at night. Since they began t use the camera in 2016, the reserve f Lake Nakuru has nt had any elephants pached ver the past 6 years. In Kenya's 580-square-mile Maasai Mara Natinal Reserve, lng-range thermal cameras munted n ranging vehicles allwed rangers t set up mbile utpsts where pachers may appear.
