Hw des it wrk? First,the rat is trained t smell peple. When this happens, the rat's brain gives a signal. This is sent t a small radi n its back, and then the rescuers fllw the radi signals. When the rat's brain activity jumps, the rescuers knw that smene is alive. The rat has smelled that persn.
Althugh there are already rbts which can d this jb, rats are better. Christian Linster at Crnell University-New Yrk says, “Rbts' nses dn't wrk well when there are ther smells arund. Rats are gd at that.” Rats can als see in the dark.They are cheaper and quicker t train than dgs, and unlike rbts, they dn't need electricity!
