    Topic: Unit 4 Wheres my schoolbag? Section A 1a-2c (Period 1)

    Teaching Objectives

    Knowledge objectives: Through pictures, students can learn and correctly say out the things around the house, such as sofa, chair, bed, table, and bookcase. And students can ask and answer the position by using the structures Where is/are...? Its ...Theyre...and the prepositions on, in and under.

    Emotional objectives: Through pictures of room, students can have a awareness of cleaning their own rooms. They can know how to put their learning tools, clothes and other things in right places and form good habits.

    Strategies objectives: Through listening tasks, students can further use the listening skill (key words) correctly.

    Key&Difficult Points

    Key points:

    The vocabulary of things around the house.

    Expressing the position by using the structure Where is/are...? and the prepositions on, in and under.

    Students can correctly use the target language to talk about where things are.

    Difficult points:

    Correctly use singular and plural forms of nouns. Students can understand the consistency of the subjects and be verbs in functional sentences.

    Step 1: Review

    Whats this in English?

    Its a/an...

    How do you spell it?

    Is it yours?

    Yes, it is./ No, it isnt.

    Intention: To review the sentence patterns learned in the last period by giving some pictures, and to lead in the topic of this lesson.

    Step 2: Pre listening

    Task 1: Guessing

    Whats this? Its a table/bed/sofa/chair/bookcase.

    They are all furnitures.

    Intention: To present the new words in this period by some paintings in the context (table/bed/sofa/chair/bookcase). 

    Task 2: Work on 1a

    Match the words with the things in the pictures.

    Presentation of preposition on, in, under.

    Intention: To set the scene and test their knowledge. To have a review of the three prepositions.

    Step 3: While listening

    Task 3: work on 1b

    1st listening: Listen and number the things in the pictures. (Listening tip: pay attention to the key words)

    2nd listening: Listen and complete the blanks.

    3rd listening: Try to retell the listening based on the blanks.

    Task 4: work on 2a-2c

    1st listening: Listen and number the things.

    2nd listening: Listen again. Find the things from 2a and number them in the picture.

    3rd listening: Listen again and answer the questions.

    Intention: To give Ss practice in listening for specific items in conversations.

    Step 4: Post listening

    Group work: What's this in English?

               Is this/that.....?     

               Are these/those .....

               Where are /is.....?

    Intention: To use the target language in the real context.

    Step 5: Summary

    Sentence structures:

    To develop a good habit of keeping things in order.

    Homework

    1. Exercise book Page 31.
    2. Make sentences based on 1c&2c.

    Estimated Completion Time: 25min

    Intention: Make sentences can strengthen the usage of important sentence structures. There are several exercise types on the exercise book to train Ss target language application ability.
