    Best Sleep Music Apps
If you want to sleep better at night, trying a sleep music app might be the answer. Here are some ideal sleep music apps to choose from.
    Calm
Calm is one of the most popular sleep music apps and its large library of relaxing and sleep-causing tracks is largely responsible for that. This app offers a free version, but to really take advantage of what Calm has to offer, you had better choose the paid version, which costs $ 69.99 for one year. A lifetime membership is $ 399.99.
    Relax Melodies
Relax Melodies is intended to calm your mind with relaxing sound. The composer is visual and easy to use, and the Discover page gives you access to other app features, like bedtime stories and breathing exercises. Though its free version provides a great introduction to the idea of sleep music, the paid version unlocks a larger library of sounds. Consider paying for it if there're particular sounds or features that really attract you.
    Headspace
Headspace is a feature-rich app designed in a simple way that makes it quick and easy to use its library of sleep-specific music. The Sleep icon at the bottom of the app is easy to identify and leads to a library of options that include Sleep Music and Sleep Radio. It's worth noting that nearly everything in Headspace's Sleep Library requires an extra subscription. Headspace costs $ 69.99 annually, or you can pay $12.99 per month.
    Pzizz
Pzizz offers sleep music tracks you can use at naptime, bedtime, or to improve focus. One thing that makes Pzizz different is its voice narration(旁白)option. If you find the presence of a calming voice to be comforting or benefit from someone helping you to relax your body and mind, then Pzizz is a good choice for you. Male and female voice options are available and the voice is low and calm. It has a free version but you should pay for extra subscriptions.
    1. Which app allows you to combine sleep music with breathing exercises?
    A. Calm. B. Headspace. C. Pzizz. D. Relax Melodies.
    2. How much should you pay at least for the one-year subscription of Headspace?
    A. $12.99. B. $69.99. C. $155.88. D. $399.99.
    3. What is special about Pzizz?
    A. Its voice for narration is fixed. B. It provides low and calm music.
    C. It offers voice narration options. D. Its focus is sleep-specific music.

It sounds impossible for a 500-pound bear to break into a house through a small window. But the animal known as Hank the Tank is no ordinary bear: He has used his extraordinary strength to force into at least 28 garages in South Lake Tahoe and is responsible for 152 reports of conflict behavior with the local people over the past seven months.
“This smart bear does not break into a garage where trash is kept,” the police department said in a statement. “He hangs out in the neighborhood quite often because he has been continuously rewarded with food stored in garages.”
The most recent incident occurred late last week, when local police officers were called to a home on Catalina Drive when Hank broke into another garage and the police department has planned a special trapping effort to remove Hank the Tank from the neighborhood. After he’s caught, it will decide whether he can be placed in a controlled habitat or whether he should be killed. “We hope that Hank can avoid the sad ending of another famous bear from the Tahoe area,” it said.
Like Hank the Tank, the 500-pound bear named the Safeway Bear had lost its fear of people. It was known for driving away Kings Beach get-togethers, helping itself to a birthday cake and other treats. In 2020, it was caught on camera stealing food from a grocery store at Lake Tahoe’s northern shore.
The bear was eventually trapped and sent to a remote wild habitat in El Dorado County. Its tracking collar was found in the woods in the spring of 2021, leading biologists to hope that it had successfully gotten used to a natural diet and lost weight, allowing the collar to slip off.
But the truth was very heart-breaking. The big bear was reduced to a shell of its former self and was killed at a campground where a family gathering included small children.
“The action of the shooter was the most humane outcome for this bear,” said one of the biologists.
    4. What do the police officers probably suggest the public do?
    A. Avoid mixing food leftovers with garbage.
    B. Replace small windows with bigger ones.
    C. Call the police once they see Hank the Tank.
    D. Put food outside to help the trapping effort.
    5. Where was the Safeway Bear sent?
    A. El Dorado County. B. Kings Beach.
    C. Catalina Drive. D. Lake Tahoe.
    6. What can be learned about the Safeway Bear?
    A. It had a hard life in the Tahoe area.
    B. It lost its ability to live in the wild.
    C. It successfully got used to a natural diet.
    D. It stole food and killed people on the beach.
    7. What is the biologist’s attitude to the action of the shooter?
    A. Opposed. B. Skeptical. C. Supportive. D. Unconcerned.
A 5. A 6. B 7. C
根据第二段的““This smart bear does not break into a garage where trash is kept,” the police department said in a statement. “He hangs out in the neighborhood quite often because he has been continuously rewarded with food stored in garages.”(“这只聪明的熊不会闯入存放垃圾的车库,”警察局在一份声明中说。 故选A。
根据倒数第三段“The bear was eventually trapped and sent to a remote wild habitat in El Dorado County.(这只熊最终被困住,并被送到了位于埃尔多拉多县的一个偏远的野生栖息地)”可知,Safeway Bear被送到了El Dorado County。故选A。
根据倒数第三段的“Its tracking collar was found in the woods in the spring of 2021, leading biologists to hope that it had successfully gotten used to a natural diet and lost weight, allowing the collar to slip off.(2021年春天,人们在树林里发现了它的追踪项圈,这让生物学家们希望它已经成功适应了自然饮食并减肥,让项圈得以滑落)”和第二段的“But the truth was very heart- breaking. The big bear was reduced to a shell of its former self and was killed at a campground where a family gathering included small children.(但事实却非常令人心碎。
根据最后一段的““The action of the shooter was the most humane outcome for this bear,” said one of the biologists.(“射击者的行为对这只熊来说是最人道的结果,”其中一位生物学家说)”可知,这位生物学家对射击者的行为是支持的。故选C。

When we’re thirsty, we drink. It seems so simple. But the science behind that decision is amazingly complex. a Caltcch researcher reports in the journal Nature.
“There are many thirst related checkpoints throughout the body and brain, ” says Yuki Oka, the author.
One of the first checkpoints is passed when water reaches our mouth, which gives our brain a refreshing feeling. Then our brain needs to know how much water we are taking in to figure out when we should stop. It can’t wait until the water is absorbed into the bloodstream because that can take 15 minutes or more. So the body has an additional checkpoint, which is swallowing. The act of swallowing acts like a meter, which the brain monitors to quickly determine how much water is entering the body.
“Still, the brain takes a complex trust- but-confirm approach to this information and the confirming process takes a couple of minutes, ” Oka says. “Cells near the liver (肝) also send messages to the brain when we are drinking. These cells aren’t sensing the water directly. Experiments show they are responding to a chemical that ’s produced when water makes the blood less salty. In a matter of minutes, the change is translated into more sensitive chemical signal to tell the brain the exact changes. ”
The checkpoint near the liver is not the final one. There’s then going to be changes in blood pressure along the intestine (肠) which can be sensed as well, the study reports.
“All of these complex multiple checkpoints to regulate thirst can be expected, given the life-or-death nature of our dependence on water. However, it just shows how complex an apparently simple process actually works in our body. ” Oka says.
    8. Where is the checkpoint that roughly measures the amount of water we drink?
    A. In the mouth. B. In the throat.
    C. Along the intestine. D. Near the liver.
9 How many thirst-related checkpoints are mentioned?
    A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five.
    10. How does Yuki Oka feel about the discovery?
    A. Surprised. B. Confused. C. Encouraged. D. Overjoyed.
    11. What is the best title for the text?
A Why Multiple Checkpoints Are Needed?
    B. Where Are the Thirst- related Checkpoints?
    C. Which Cell Measures the Water We Drink?
    D. How Do Our Body and Brain Tell Us to Drink?
B 9. C 10. A 11. B
由文章第三段“ So the body has an additional checkpoint, which is swallowing. The act of swallowing acts like a meter, which the brain monitors to quickly determine how much water is entering the body.”(所以身体还有一个额外的检查点,那就是吞咽。
由文章第三段“One of the first checkpoints is passed when water reaches our mouth, which gives our brain a refreshing feeling.”(当水到达我们的嘴里时,第一个检查点就通过了,这给我们的大脑一种清新的感觉。);文章第三段“So the body has an additional checkpoint, which is swallowing.”(以身体还有一个额外的检查点,那就是吞咽。);文章第五段“The checkpoint near the liver is not the final one.”(靠近肝脏的检查点不是最后一个。)以及文章第五段“There’s then going to be changes in blood pressure along the intestine which can be sensed as well, the study reports”(研究报告称,随后会有血压沿肠道的变化,这种变化也可以被感知到)可知,总共有四个检查点。
由文章最后一段“All of these complex multiple checkpoints to regulate thirst can be expected, given the life-or-death nature of our dependence on water. However, it just shows how complex an apparently simple process actually works in our body.”(考虑到我们对水的依赖是生死攸关的,所有这些复杂的多重检查点都可以用来调节口渴。 故选A项。
Where Are the Thirst- related Checkpoints?(渴相关的检查点在哪里?)
    D
When cultural heritage sites disappear, they’re gone forever. However, they are being endangered at an alarming rate by rising seas (Venice), pollution (the Taj Mahal) and overtourism (Angkor Wat). Just to name a few.
But when we try to protect these heritage sites, we also have to face such thorny questions as “What part of the past is worth preserving and passing on to the next generations? What duty do we owe to the creations of our ancestors? What strength do we draw from their presence — and when, on the contrary, do they become a lead weight, preventing us from projecting ourselves into the future?”
Humankind has answered these difficult questions differently in different places. In Dresden, Germany, the Frauenkirche was an 18th-century church whose bell-shaped top was a landmark. In February, 1945, one of the most destructive bombing attacks of World War II killed more than 25,000 people and reduced the city to ruins. With Dresden slowly rebuilt after the war, the Frauenkirche was left in ruins. But after German reunification, the church was reconstructed using many of its original materials, as a statement of peace and harmony.
Like the Frauenkirche, Notre Dame, a landmark in Paris, which was destroyed by fire in 2019, is being rebuilt as close as possible to how it was before, including using the original and poisonous metal-lead-for the roof. That choice was controversial, as future choices are bound to be in the debate about how to restore and preserve historic buildings.
Perhaps, no one can claim to have the right answers on preservation. There may not even be right answers. What we will do is to continue to take care of important cultural heritage sites, as a matter of significance to humanity’s past, present and future.
    12. Which heritage site is overcrowded?
    A. Venice. B. Dresden. C. The Taj Mahal. D. Angkor Wat.
    13. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “thorny” in paragraph 2?
    A. Tough. B. Smart. C. Interesting. D. Important.
    14. What does the author dislike about the rebuilding of Notre Dame?
    A. The high rebuilding costs. B. The timing of reconstruction.
    C. The choice of certain material. D. The significance of preservation
    15. What message does the author seem to convey in the text?
    A. We should protect as many heritage sites as possible.
    B. It is better to leave the damaged historic buildings alone.
    C. Historic buildings should be rebuilt with the same materials.
    D. Heritage sites serve as an important link among human beings.
D 13. A 14. C 15. D
根据第一段“However, they are being endangered at an alarming rate by rising seas (Venice), pollution (the Taj Mahal) and overtourism (Angkor Wat).(然而,由于海平面上升(威尼斯)、污染(泰姬陵)和过度旅游(吴哥窟),它们正以惊人的速度濒临灭绝)”可知,吴哥窟过于拥挤。
根据画线词后的问题“What part of the past is worth preserving and passing on to the next generations? What duty do we owe to the creations of our ancestors? What strength do we draw from their presence — and when, on the contrary, do they become a lead weight, preventing us from projecting ourselves into the future?(过去的哪一部分值得保存并传给下一代? 故选A。
根据第四段“Like the Frauenkirche, Notre Dame, a landmark in Paris, which was destroyed by fire in 2019, is being rebuilt as close as possible to how it was before, including using the original and poisonous metal-lead-for the roof.(像圣母教堂一样,巴黎的地标性建筑巴黎圣母院在2019年被大火烧毁,目前正在尽可能地重建,包括使用原始的有毒金属铅作为屋顶)”可知,作者认为如果刻板地坚持修旧如旧而保留有毒材料是不明智的。
根据最后一段“What we will do is to continue to take care of important cultural heritage sites, as a matter of significance to humanity’s past, present and future.(我们要做的是继续保护重要的文化遗产,这对人类的过去、现在和未来都具有重要意义)”可推断,作者认为重要的文物需要保护,因为那是人类的精神家园。

故填which。

故填from。
故填were。
此处用所给动词的名词dependence/dependency作宾语,为不可数名词,故填dependence/dependency。
故填to avoid。
a large amount of 固定搭配,意为“大量的”。故填a。
    51. 假定英语课上老师要求同桌之间交换修改作文,请你修改你同桌写的以下作文。文中共有10处语言错误,每句中最多有两处。每处错误仅涉及一个单词的增加、删除或修改。
    增加:在缺词处加一个漏字符号(∧),并在其下面写出该加的词。
    删除:把多余的词用斜线(\)划掉。
    修改:在错的词下划一横线,并在该词下面写出修改后的词。
    注意:1. 每处错误及其修改均仅限一词;
    2. 只允许修改10处,多者(从第11处起)不计分。
Last Sunday, mine parents and I climbed Mountain Tai to see the sunrise. At 4:30 on the morning we were already on the top, wait for the sun to rise. At first, a ray of sunshine appeared in the east, and then it became bright and brighter. Sudden, the sun sprang out, looking like a large ball, and the sky in the east became red. Later, the sun was blocking by a piece of cloud. When it appeared again, and the sun changed from red to bright red, and then to golden. As it rose, it became silvery white and shone out. The sun was so bright that we couldn’t looked at it directly. At that time, whole mountain was in the golden sunlights.
1. mine→my
    2. on→in
    3. wait→waiting
    4. bright→brighter
    5. Sudden→Suddenly
    6. blocking→blocked
    7.删除and
    8. looked→look
    9. whole前加the
    10.sunlights→sunlight

in the morning固定搭配,意为“在早上”,故将on改为in。
为比较级+and+比较级,“越来越明亮”为brighter and brighter,故将bright改为brighter。
whole前面通常加the,the whole mountain意为“整座山”,故在whole前加the。
