过去进行时
一、回顾复习:什么是现在进行时
现在进行时表示当前正在发生或进行的动作。谓语动词的构成为“ +动词的现在分词”。
They (have) a birthday party for their daughter. 他们正为女儿举办一个生日聚会。
Look! It (rain) so heavily. 看!雨下得多大。
二、新学新知:过去进行时
1. 含义:过去进行时表示过去某时或某段时间正在进行的动作。
2. 构成:过去进行时谓语动词的构成为“ +动词的现在分词”。
I (have) breakfast at 7:00 yesterday morning. 昨天早上7点我正在吃早饭。
Alice (sit) by the river at that time. 那时爱丽丝正坐在河边。
They were having a tea party in the garden. 他们正在花园里举行茶会。
3. 句式变化
(1)否定句:在was或were之后加 。was not = ;were not = 。
They (not sleep) then. 他们那时没有在睡觉。
Linda (not play) the piano from 8 to 9 last night.
昨天晚上8点到9点琳达没有在弹钢琴。
(2)一般疑问句:将was或were提到 之前。回答时用was或were。
— you waiting for your friends then? 你那时在等你的朋友吗?
— Yes,I was./No,I wasn’t. 是的,我在等。/不,我没有在等。
(3)特殊疑问句:通常由疑问词加一般疑问句构成,提问主语时例外。

三、一般过去时与过去进行时的区别
1. 一般过去时表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态;过去进行时表示过去某时或某段时间正在进行的动作。
I (read) an interesting story last night. 昨天晚上我读了一个有趣的故事。
I (read) an interesting story at 8:00 last night.
昨天晚上8点我正在读一个有趣的故事。
2. 一般过去时的时间状语通常比较笼统,不具体,如 (昨天), (刚才), (去年), (三天前)等;过去进行时的时间状语通常比较具体,如at that time(那时),at 11 yesterday(昨天11点),between 8 and 10 last Saturday(上周六8点到10点之间)等。
They played basketball . 昨天下午他们打篮球了。
They were playing basketball yesterday afternoon. 昨天下午5点他们正在打篮球。
