将学到的日常用语应用到生活当中。

Step 1  Warming up

1. Show some pictures to the class and ask: What season or month do you think it is? Get some students to give their answers.

2. Go over the four seasons.

Step 2  Vocabulary

1. A riddle.

Teacher says: On a calendar, Sunday comes before Monday. Where can you find Monday before Sunday? Get the class to think about it.

Answer: In a dictionary

2. Unjumble the words and discover the answer to the riddle. (Building Your Vocabulary )

3. Check the answers.

Step 3  Grammar

一、数词

1. Explain cardinal and ordinal numbers to the class.　

数词分为基数词和序数词两类。前者表示数量，后者表示次序。

　[助记]

　　　　基数词变序数词

基变序，很容易，结尾加上“th”。

一二三，特殊记，结尾分别t, d, d。

八减t，九去e，f来把ve替。

词尾若是ty, y改为“ie”，然后再加“th”。

若是遇到几十几，只变个位就可以。

2. Exercise

Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the given words. Then complete the chart. (Grammar in Use No. I )

二、it的用法

1. Explain the use of “it” to the class.

it是代词，主要用法有：

　(1) 指代前面提到过的单个事物。

　—What’s this? 这是什么？

　—It is a piano. 这是一架钢琴。

　(2) 指人，通常在不知道性别或指小孩时。

　Someone is knocking on the door. Who is it?

  有人在敲门，会是谁呢？　

(3)表示时间、日期或季节。

　It’s eight o’clock. 现在是8点钟。

　It is Friday today. 今天是星期五。

　(4)表示距离。

　How far is it from your home to the bank?

从你家到银行多远？

　(5)表示天气。

　It’s hot in summer here.

这儿夏天天气炎热。

2. Exercise

Look at the calendar and answer the questions. (Listening and Speaking No.Ⅱ)

4. What is the date of the fourth Tuesday?

5. What is the date two days after the third Monday?

Step 6 Putting It All Together

1. Work in groups. Interview your classmates and fill in the table. Then use the results to write a report.

  Example:

  My classmates like different seasons and holidays. Zhang Li likes summer. He likes to go to the park on Children’s Day. Children’s Day is on June 1. Linda likes December. She likes to look at the beautiful Christmas lights.

2. Ask some students to read their reports in front of the class.

Step 7  Self-Evaluation

1. Get the class to complete them and check them in pairs.

2. Give the class possible versions.

 (1) Talking about Seasons and Weather

  How is the weather today?

It’s snowing.

The weather is cold and cloudy.

 (2)Talking about Days and Months

  What day is it?

What’s the date today?

It’s January 17.

(3) Numerals

 one—first　two—second

three—third　five—fifth

eleven—eleventh　twelve—twelfth

(4) Using “it”

 It is warm and rainy.

It’s December 23 and Christmas is coming!

It’s only seven days from today.

Step 8  A song

1. Get the class to look at the song Month by Month on Page 112 for a few seconds. Make sure they know the meaning of the song.

2. Play the recording and get the class to listen and then sing along it.

Step 9  Summary

1. 谈论天气，谈论日期；

3. 常见的发/ʊə/, /t/, /d/, /k/和/ɡ/的字母和字母组合；

4. 本单元的交际用语。
