Good morning, dear judges! I am No**candidate, applying for an English teacher of middle school. Today my topic is “sports and fitness”(板书)It’s my great honor to stand here and share my teaching thoughts with all of you! Now please allow me to start my presentation. I’m going to divide my teaching thoughts into 6 parts as follows: analysis of teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods, teaching key and difficulty point, teaching procedures and blackboard design.
In the first place, I will analyze my teaching material. The teaching material comes from PEP the first required course, unit 1. This class is mainly talking about the writing lesson. Students are required to read an article first and then write a suggestion letter to help others and give some advice. This lesson aims at figuring out the organization and language features of a letter of advice, writing a letter of advice by using the language in the reading text, and building students’ kindness and trying to solve problems.
According to the analysis of teaching material, I set up the teaching objectives and teaching key point and difficult point as follows:
Teaching key point:1.Analyse the organization and language features of a letter of advice.2.Learn how to write a letter of advice according to an actual situation.
Teaching difficult point:
1.Enable students to judge the structures of the passage and the characteristics of the main characters.
2.Enable students to write a letter of advice with the help of the target vocabulary.
Teaching methods:
the Audio-Lingual Method, task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching
Teaching procedures:
Step1: warming up
Free talk. Talk about what advice they would give if someone has a certain problem and collect more sentence patterns and expressions related to giving advice.
Step2:Read the letter for details with two questions-----1.What is worried friend’s problem?
2.What advice does Susan Luo give? After answer two questions, I will ask students to read for thinking and work in group and talk about the questions-------1.Do you think Ms Luo’s advice is useful or not? 2. If you were his friends, what’s your advice to him? Based on these questions, students can express their opinions freely. At the same time their ability of speaking can be improved.
Step3:Write a letter
Before writing, I will show them the three situations on page19 and sum up the problems and enable students to talk about the possible suggestions and reasons. Then choose one situation to write about. From this activity, enable students to learn how to write a letter of advice according to an actual situation.
Blackboard design:
- Expressions to make suggestions: I recommend that you should.../ I think you should.../Why not...?/It is a good idea to do.../ What about doing...?/ I suggested that you should.../ You’d better...
- The format of a letter of advice.
