Hawaian chaff flwer (夏威夷牛膝草) was everywhere n the beaches f Hawaii in the 1950s and 1960s. Unfrtunately, Hawaii has becme a ppular destinatin.The shrubby plant's habitat has been erded by htels, apartments and turist develpments, leaving it extinct in a shrt perid f time (extinct in 1990).
Pyrenean ibex (比利牛斯山羊), nce cmmnly fund in Suthern France, Nrthern Pyrenees and Cantabrian Muntains, was ne f the fur subspecies f Iberian wild gat r Spanish ibex. They were fund in huge numbers even a few hundred years ag. Hwever, by 1900 the numbers went dwn t less than 100, and after 1910, the number never went up abve 40. The last Pyrenean ibex was Celia, a female, fund dead in the year 2000.

Many scientists say we are nw entering the Earth’s sixth mass extinctin. This time, human activity will be t blame.
② Althugh it is nt unusual fr species t die ut naturally, the rate at which this is nw happening is cause fr cncern. A 2015 study by scientists wh were based at Brwn University and Duke University in the US, lked at hw quickly species die ut due t natural causes, that is, the “backgrund extinctin rate”. They fund that human activity is causing species t die ut 1,000 times faster than nrmal. There is a lng list f reasns why s many species are dying ut: air and water pllutin, frests being destryed, factry farming and verfishing. It is clear that human activity has negatively affected all ther species n Earth, including animals and plants.
