As 16-year-old Torri'ell Norwood drove through Florida, last February, the laughter and chatter from the four teenage girls inside her car quickly gave way to screams. As they approached an intersection, another car crashed them, sending their car sailing into the yard of a nearby home, coming to a stop only when it crashed into a tree.

As smoke rose from the car,a bystander shouted, “It's about to blow up!Get out!”Shaken but OK,Norwood crawled out through the window as the driver's side door couldn't be opened.Along with two of her friends, who'd also managed to free themselves, she ran for her life. But halfway down the street, she realized that her best friend, Simmons, wasn't with them.Norwood ran back and found Simmons unconscious in the back seat. She threw open the back door and pulled her friend out.She dragged Simmons a few feet to safety and laid her on the ground. After checking her pulse and found there was no sign of life, she started CPR.

Had the accident happened a few weeks earlier, she might not have known what to do.But just the day before, Norwood, who wanted to pursue a career in medicine, had earned her CPR certificate by learning on her own.Kneeling on the lawn and looking down at her dying friend, Norwood knew she had precious little time to practice what she'd learned.

She started pumping Simmons's chest with her interlocked fingers and breathing into her friend's mouth in the hope of filling her lungs with the kiss of life. After quite a while, Simmons began coughing and taking quick deep breaths for air.The CPR had worked!Soon, the ambulance arrived and rushed Simmons to the hospital. And then she heard how her best friend had saved her life.“I am not shocked,”Simmons told others.“She will always help any way she can.”

根据第一段中的“As they approached...crashed into a tree.” 故选A。

2.What was Norwood's immediate reaction after hearing the bystander's warning? C

A.She crawled out through the window and ran without stopping.

B.She dragged her friends out and performed CPR at once.

C.She ran for her life but turned back to save her friend.

D.She opened the driver's side door and pulled her friend out.

If you have been diagnosed with panic disorder, then you have likely experienced constant fear and anxiety.Research has shown that using relaxation techniques can help reduce nervousness.

Some common techniques include breathing exercises or yoga. 1.D Another powerful one is visualization, which can help you relieve stress. It involves using mental imagery to achieve a more relaxed state of mind.

Similar to daydreaming, visualization is accomplished through the use of your imagination. There are reasons why visualization can help you cope with panic disorder or panic attacks. 2.E When experiencing a panic attack, you may focus on the worry, the worst things that can happen and other concerns that only add to your sense of fearfulness.Visualization works to expand your ability to relax by focusing your mind on more calming images.

Before visualization, make sure your environment is set up for your comfort. To better relax, get rid of any distractions(分心的事物), such as phones, pets or TV. 3.F Remove any heavy jewelry or restricting clothing.Get ready to relax by either sitting or lying down in a position that makes you feel the most comfortable. 4.B Feel free to change it to better suit your needs and imagination.

5.G Through regular practice, you will more easily be able to use visualization when you really need it, such as when you start feeling the physical symptoms of panic and anxiety.

A.Take your time and slowly open your eyes.

B.Then you may begin your visualization exercise.

C.If the scene doesn't fit you, try your own visualization.

D.They are relatively easy to learn and can be practiced daily.

E.Consider how your thoughts wander when you feel panic or anxiety.

F.Try to find a quiet place where you will most likely be undisturbed.

G.To get better at visualization, try practicing at least several times a day.

Last week,I took a small boat and rowed miles along a little river in the middle of New York's Adirondack Mountains  1.to escape (escape) the maddening noise in the city.

One of the rewards for this remote trip was the total peace in the mountains. Here,I was completely alone. There was not another soul  2.in/within sight. No cars, no signals to draw me toward my phone.

I rowed through little ponds  3.surrounded (surround) by grass and red berries on the shores. To go deeper into the wild,I made my way through a chain of rocky rapids(急流).As I rowed along I saw a yellow maple leaf pressed against a rock by the current.

When it was impossible for  4.me (I) to row my boat, I tied it to my waist and pulled it behind me, with my pants rolled to my  5.knees (knee). To my delight,I found that the water still held some of the warmth summer.

Soon after I reached a stretch of rapids  6.that/which were too violent to get through,I was forced to carry my little boat on my shoulders.  7.Walking (walk) along a trail in the shadowy forest, I saw  8.various (variety) plants that have started to turn reddish. When the river slowed down again,I put down my boat and rowed on.On  9.arrival (arrive) at the end of the little river,I was extremely tired  10.but I felt really happy and completely re              laxed.

故填to escape。

故填in/within。

故填me。

故填that/which。

on/upon+名词表示“一……

故填but。
