Once there was a dandelion (蒲公英) living alone by the road. It felt bored and sad all day ... no one ever stopped to take a look at or talk to it.
One day, a mother was walking on the road with her baby. The baby was crying hard and loudly. No matter what the mother did, she couldn’t get the baby to stop crying. Then the mother looked down, and she found the lonely dandelion. It looked so lovely in the sun with its white seeds widely open, and more beautiful than other plants around.
The mother squatted (蹲) down, picking the dandelion softly. Then she brought it up to her baby so that he could see it clearly. When the baby saw the flowers of the dandelion, he quickly stopped crying and looked at them with interest.
His mom put the dandelion near her mouth and blew the flowers up and down. The dandelion seeds (种子) then flew in the air, spreading far away with the wind. The mother gave the dandelion to her son. He didn’t know what the plant was, but he knew it was fun to play with, which made him giggle (咯咯笑) so happily.
Now the dandelion knew its value and didn’t feel sad. It lived a beautiful life just by being itself. It wasn’t as beautiful as other flowers, but it brought the child a simple kind of happiness that money can’t buy.
The dandelion’s story tells us that everyone is special and great. We can help others in one way or another. We’re far greater than we think we are.

A satellite is a moon (卫星) planet or machine that goes around a planet or star. For example, Earth is a satellite because it goes around the sun. Some of satellites are used to take pictures of Earth to help meteorologists(气象学家) predict(预测) weather and track hurricanes(飓风). These pictures help scientists better understand the solar system and the universe. And the information of the pictures helps people on the earth work and live better.
There are also some satellites used for communications. Before satellites, TV signals (信号) didn’t go very far because sometimes mountains or tall buildings would block them. At that time. TV signals only travel in straight lines. Phone calls to faraway places were also a problem. Setting up telephone wires(电线) over long distances or underwater is difficult and costs a lot. Success is often considered to be the opposite of failure. To teenagers, it is the achievement of a goal or completion of something they really need, such as good grades and the ability to get along well with their classmates. Some schools used to agree with most parents who measured(判定)the success of their children according to grades but now they pay special attention to moral(道德的)education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building human relationships.
Schools give chances to students to discover their hidden ability so that they can enjoy some forms of success. For example, those good at speaking skills are advised to take part in speech competitions while those interested in arts are expected to perform in front of their classmates. Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.
Teenagers are often told that success is not easy to achieve and that success lies in hard work. Great efforts have to be put into project work. Doing things much later than planned should be avoided as this will lead to a mountain of work which finally makes them nervous. Another good quality is a sense of responsibility which makes them remember that a task has to be completed.
Sticking to moral values is the key to success too. Honest teenagers will win the trust of friends leading to good relationships. Self-motivation(自我激励)is another quality to be developed, because self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will and drive to perform a task and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.

A.Their classmates. B.Some schools. C.Most parents. D.Their children.
