    By the end of this section, students will be able to:

      1. find out how Alan’s life changed after he stopped using his smartphone;

      2. Think of ways to solve the problem of being addicted to a smartphone;

    教学重难点:

      1. Guide students to find the changes after Alan stopped using his smartphone;

        2. How to be a wise smartphone user;

    教学过程:

     Step 1 Lead-in

     Free talk:

    Which way is the right way for a teenager to spend his or her holiday?

    Of course, the first two are the right way, but most of you choose the third one ?

       T: Why do most of us choose to play a smartphone?

         Suggested answers:   have fun

    do shopping

    chat with...

    search for information

    Then teacher ask the question: Is a smartphone a smart choice?

    T:Watch a clip of video to think more:How do you feel after watching this video?

    T:They are so addicted to the smartphones, they always lower their heads ,with their eyes glued to the screen. they care about nothing ,even the life , thus a series of accidents are caused by being addicted to them.  Maybe it is time to change.

    Then teacher ask the question again:  SO, is a smartphone a smart choice?

    What life will be like if we keep away from smartphone? The boy called Alan shared his story of keeping away from his smartphone for a week.

    Step 2 Reading

    Fast-reading

    Read the blog post written by Alan about living without a smartphone for a week.

    Listen and answer the question: How is the article organized?

    A. In the order of time.                       B. With the change of places.

    I was a smartphone addict and I wanted to make a change.

    Para. 3:The first day was the hardest and I felt disconnected from everyone and everything.

    Para. 4:I began to feel free to do lots of things and was able to appreciate the beauty in life with my own eyes.

       I made sure to spend more time with my parents.

       T: After you learned about what Alan has experienced and the changes of his feelings.Do you think a smartphone is a smart choice? Would you like to come to the blackboard to draw a curve to show the changes of his feelings?

      A double-edged sword: It will bring a new world to you ,but it also may close the door to the future. Be a wise smartphone user

    Cut back on the time you spend on your smartphone every day.

    Join in more physical activities like taking regular exercise.

    Get close to nature and appreciate the beauty in life.

    Establish your offline relationships by spending more time with your friends and family members.

    Enjoy your life by travelling, going to the opera, attending concerts and watching films.

    Read more physical books to broaden your horizons.

    Get involved in some volunteer activities to make life more meaningful.
