Seoul is a modern city full of delicious food options (选择) as well as great attractions, historical sights, and places to shop.
    Best time to visit
The best month for sightseeing in Seoul is during the warm weather between summer and early fall.
    Getting around
In Seoul, you have three main forms of transportation: train, subway, and taxi. The fastest option to get around Seoul is the Airport Railroad Express train. It has two options: the express and the all-stop. While the all-stop option is cheaper, it’s about 15 minutes slower than the express.
Seoul has one of the largest subway stations in the world with 14 lines. It may seem a bit awful, but once you get used to it, it’s pretty easy.
Another option to get around Seoul is to rent a car. This is one of the least used options as Seoul has a convenient public transportation system.
    Places to visit
Everland — the largest theme park in Korea.
Lotte World — a great theme park for kids with never-ending thrill rides.
Seoul Tower — a symbolic skyscraper where you can take breathtaking views of the city.
TrickEye 3D museum — if you love photos, you will find strange photos in this museum.

There are lots of places to stay at Seoul. Below are our top recommendations (推荐):
Myeongdong is tourists’ popular option. It has great shopping malls, great food, and lively nightlife. You can stay at the Aloft Seoul Myeongdong.
Gangnam is another popular district, which has become famous thanks to the song Gangnam Style. One of the best areas in Gangnam is Garosugil, where you will find cafes, art galleries, retail (零售) stores. A great hotel option in this area is the Dormy Inn Premium Seoul Garosugil.

Xu Yuanchong, China’s most renowned master translator, passed away in Beijing at the age of 100 on Thursday, according to Peking University. A winner of the highest honor in the field of translation, Xu was best known for his translations of ancient Chinese poems into English and French that have gained worldwide recognition.
Xu devoted himself to translation for more than 60 years. For him, translated literature is “a beautiful art for the whole world.” His academic career began during his college years when he studied at the National Southwest Associated University (Lianda) in Kunming. In 1939, he published an English translation of a poem written by Chinese female poet and architect Lin Huiyin titled “Don’t Cast Away”, which is now known as his earliest work. Xu spent a few years in France studying French literature in the late 1940s. He then returned to China after graduation and became the first Chinese to translate Chinese poetry into English and French in rhyme.
“The greatest joy of an individual is to be with the people you like and do what you like to do. The greatest joy on the earth is to introduce the beauty created by a people to the whole world.” Xu once said. Xu put forward the “Three Beauties Theory”, in terms of translation, stressing the importance of beauty that is conveyed semantically (合语义地), phonologically (合音韵地)and logically (和逻辑地).
He taught at Peking University from 1983 and was awarded the “Lifetime achievements in translation” award from the national association for translation studies in 2010. Xu was also the first Asian translator to win the Aurora Borealis Prize for Outstanding Translation of Fiction Literature (北极光杰出文学翻译奖), one of the highest honors among international translators.

The exhibit, Digital Dunhuang, which is being held at the Hong Kong Museum this month, has brought to Hong Kong more than 100 exhibits including the visual murals (虚拟壁画) of Dunhuang Cave 285 and Dunhuang Cave 61, and other related programs that allow visitors to learn about the art and history of the Dunhuang Caves in a fun way.
“Dunhuang was an international city on the Silk Road where East met West. So the Dunhuang Caves, which were completed in a period of over 1,000 years, record the ways of life and religious beliefs of the different peoples that crossed paths there.” explained Fion Lin of Hong Kong Museum.
Unlike some other cultural treasures, the Dunhuang Caves cannot travel. But visitors can now experience these faraway treasures in a way that is impossible even if they are in the caves, thanks to the digitization project of the Dunhuang Academy, a pioneer that has made great progress in the digitization and 3D scanning of the Dunhuang treasures.
“Studies have shown that in a Dunhuang Cave, both temperature and CO2 concentration level can be raised with 15 tourists inside for ten minutes and the wall paintings are going to eventually fade. Digital technology has helped to strike a balance between sharing the treasures and protecting them,” said Lin.
However, digitization of the caves faces many challenges such as poor lighting and rough wall surfaces. On average, 40, 000 pictures have to be taken to cover 300 m2, in addition to great amount of effort to piece the pictures together. What the exhibition presents here is the result of years of hard work.
During the exhibition period, talks on Dunhuang music culture and Dunhuang history are also being held at the Museum for public participation.
28.What can visitors see at the Digital Dunhuang exhibit in HK?
    A.All Dunhuang Caves. B.About 40,000 Dunhuang pictures.
C.Digital Dunhuang wall paintings. D.Ancient records of Dunhuang.
29.What is the significance of the digitization project of the Dunhuang Academy?
A.It helps Dunhuang become an international city.
B.It lets people better appreciate the Dunhuang art.
C.It is effective in cutting the CO2 level in the Caves.
D.It attracts more tourists from East and West to Hong Kong.
30.What do we know about the Dunhuang paintings?
A.They are brightly lit. B.They are very rough.
C.It is very hard to protect them. D.It is impossible for the tourists to see them.
31.Where can you find the evidence that supports “Digitization of the Caves isn’t easy”?
    A.In paragraph 2. B.In paragraph 3.
    C.In paragraph 4. D.In paragraph 5.
    D
Do you often feel like you want to wash your hands again and again? Or do you ever have the urge to line up the items on your desk? These all may be symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (强迫症), or OCD, which affects about 2 percent of the world's population.
Those who suffer from OCD have difficulty finding successful treatment because doctors don't clearly understand its causes. But now, a new study has given hope for a future cure.
For the study, which was published in the journal Nature in October, researchers observed humans, dogs and mice. They discovered four genes that may be responsible for obsessive-compulsive behaviors in humans.
But why observe dogs and mice to learn about humans?
"Dogs, it turns out, are surprisingly similar to people," study author and geneticist Elinor Karlsson, of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University, US, told NPR. "They're chasing their own tail or chasing shadows like normal, but they're doing it for hours."
In the study, researchers made a list of about 600 genes in mice, dogs and humans that they thought might cause OCD, reported NPR. They then compared those genes in two large groups of people – those who don't have OCD and those who do. In the end, they identified just four genes with mutations (突变) in the OCD group. The genes are active in a neurological pathway (神经通路) in the brain, which is believed to help control actions. But the mutations could block the neurological pathway.
For example, for people without OCD, when they finish washing their hands, a signal will come, telling them to stop. But for people with OCD, the neurological pathway is blocked, so the message isn't getting through. As a result, the person will continue to wash their hands.
"OCD and anxiety are kind of like learning disorders," Marcos Grados, an OCD researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, told NPR. "Often with OCD, people have a fear of germs (细菌). You can't touch tables or door knobs (把手) and every time it's the same sensation (感觉). You didn't learn that the last time you touched a door knob, nothing happened. It's like touching it for the first time ever."
However, that doesn't mean people who have these genetic mutations will always have obsessive-compulsive behaviors, the researchers said. That's because the disorder also relies on other things, such as one's environment.
According to reports, various existing treatment methods have low success rates in patients. But now that we know where OCD comes from, let's hope we will soon find an effective way to treat it.
32.What did researchers recently find about OCD?
A.They found a possible cure for it. B.It is a common problem among animals.
C.It can be caused by genetic mutations. D.It can be passed on to the next generation.
33.What would a typical OCD sufferer probably do?
A.Enjoy shaking hands with others. B.Touch door knobs from time to time.
C.Keep washing their hands. D.Enjoy the company of friends.
34.What is the problem for OCD sufferers according to the study?
A.They have four missing genes that control their behavior.
B.Some part of their neurological pathway is damaged.
C.Their brains are not sensitive to behavioral signals.
D.Their brains can't receive messages to stop repeated actions.
35.Which of the following will the author probably agree with?
A.OCD causes more trouble than anxiety.
B.A genetic mutation is the main cause of OCD.
C.Environment plays a more important role in OCD than genes.
D.It's possible to find effective treatment for OCD.

【原文】M: Mom, can we get a dog?
W: Dogs need a lot of attention, Jeffrey. Do you think you can handle that kind of responsibility? It’s harder than you think.
M: Of course I can. I’ll take it for walks every day, and clean up after it.
W: Do you know what kind of dog you want?
M: Yes, I’ve been looking at some pictures on the Internet. This one with the long golden hair is named Lion.
W: He’s very cute, but we don’t have enough room for a dog that big. Those dogs need space to run around, and we live in an apartment. I think we should get a small one.
M: OK, then what about this one? My friend has one like this, and everyone likes it.
W: Those kinds of dogs always have health problems. Plus, they bark a lot. We don’t want to annoy our neighbors.
M: So what do you suggest?
W: First, we aren’t getting one from a pet store. They are too expensive. I know a place that saves dogs and gives them away for free.
    M: OK.
W: And second, you need to show me you have the sense of responsibility. That means cleaning your room, doing your homework, and helping around the house.
    M: I promise!

【原文】W: Good morning, everyone! I can’t believe we’re finally graduating from American Film Institute. Thank you so much Mr. Gladstein for pronouncing my name right. It is hard to pronounce for non-native speakers. Part of the reason I'm here is because I received assistance from my Chinese fellows. We make up 20 percent of the university population, which is the same percentage of us Chinese people in the world. Jokes aside, the class are from all over the world such as Germany, Israel and so on. When I first arrived here two years ago, I respected everyone, everything. The grand building, the talented schoolmates. In the first year, I was in constant social anxiety. I didn’t know how to make friends. And I would always miss home and felt lonely. However, I felt much better after the first teamwork with my classmates. With so much work to do, it was super easy to make friends like this. “Hey, I'm starving! Do you want to go out and eat some food?”“Sure.”We encouraged each other to improve our skills and create awesome works. But seriously, this couldn’t have happened without the effort of my dear friends. You must be the treasure God sent to my life. Now it is time for us to get out here, and show the world how excellent we are! Thank you very much!

31.推理判断题。根据第五段内容“However, digitization of the caves faces many challenges such as poor lighting and rough wall surfaces. Best wishes!
