It’s not easy growing up. Growing up can be a real “pain” for some of us. We are always doing things that someone else makes us do and aren’t allowed to do all the things we like. Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don’t understand why we can’t stay young forever. But we should take a look back on all the hardships (苦难) in life with a positive attitude (态度) and learn from them. We should realize that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains!
Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these obstacles keep us from following our dreams. We must overcome (克服) every obstacle one small step at a time.
As a young girl, my parents forced me to do so many things that I didn’t like. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music and I also hated them. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched (丰富) my life in so many ways. I now realize that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life than they did themselves.
We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just part of our life. Think about how we would feel if we had no challenges and lived a life like that. Life would be really boring and meaningless. The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat (汗水) never hurt anyone! If we realize that these pains are just small bumps (碰撞) on our road to success, we will realize that our growing pains are actually growing gains!
( )29.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A.Growing pains are part of our life.
B.Our growing pains will finally turn into growing gains.
C.We should stop when facing many challenges.
D.Life without challenges is boring and meaningless.
( )30.The underlined word “obstacles” in Paragraph 2 refers to things that ________.
A.make it easy for you to do something B.make it difficult for you to do something
C.make you happy all the time D.make you full of energy
( )31.What does the author now think about what her parents did for her in the past?
A.She is angry with them. B.She is dissatisfied with them.
C.She is thankful to them. D.She couldn’t forgive them.
( )32.What would be the best title for this passage?
A.No Pain, No Gain B.Growing Pains and Gains
C.Growing up is a Pain D.Growing up is Easy

A long time before I was born, my grandma and grandpa moved into the house on Beechwood Avenue. They had a young family of 4 little girls. During that time, it was hard to find a job. So, on weekend grandpa and grandma cleaned the garden to grow some of their own food. They planted tomatoes, beans, cabbages, potatoes and strawberries to feed their growing family. All summer long, the family ate food from the garden.
The family grew up, and before too many years had passed, the grandchildren came to visit. Grandma and grandpa still planted their garden every spring. Everyone still enjoyed the good food from the garden and always took some home.
Then grandpa died in one summer when he was eighty-nine years old. It was a lonely winter for grandma. She sat near the window, looking out at the yard and wondering if she could plant the garden in the spring. It would be hard to care for it by herself. When spring came, she planted only a little.
One nice day in the early summer, grandma heard a noise in the front yard and looked out the window. There were thousands of bees in the air. Grandma wondered what she could do. She decided to wait and think it over. Before long, she decided the bees won’t bother anyone, so she went about her business and didn’t give them any other thought.
That summer, grandma’s little garden grew and grew. The neighbors all puzzled why they grew so well. One day, grandma’s brother Frank visited her. Frank said,“In my hometown, the farmers often hired beekeepers to set up bee houses near their fields. The bees helped them to grow.” That was when Grandma realized that her bees had helped with her garden all summer.
From that Time on, grandma always believed that since grandpa couldn’t be there to help her that summer, he had sent the bees to take his place and make grandma’s little garden grow and grow.

Norman Gortsby sat on a bench in the park of a busy city. It was 6:30 on an early March evening. Gortsby was in the mood to put himself among the defeated. He had been cheated by someone he had trusted. And he enjoyed sitting on a bench watching others like him, who had been disappointed by life.
Next to him on the bench sat an old man. As he got up to leave, Gortsby imagined him going back to a lonely room somewhere. His place on the bench was soon taken by a young man. He was well-dressed, but he seemed upset. He muttered to himself.
“You don’t seem happy, ” said Gortsby.
The young man said, “You wouldn’t be in a good mood if you were in the mess I’m in. I’ve done the stupidest thing in my life. ”
“What was that?” asked Gortsby.
“I came to the city this afternoon, ”the young man said. “After I checked into the hotel, I decided to go out and buy some soap. I’d forgotten to pack any. When I turned to go back to the hotel, I realized that I couldn’t remember its name. I couldn’t even remember what street it is on. I don’t have friends here. I have spent the money I took with me from the hotel on the soap. ”
He continued, “I suppose you think that’s an unbelievable story.”
“No, not at all,”said Gortsby.
The young man said, “If I don’t find someone to give me some money, I’ll have to spend the night in the park. But I’m glad you don’t think the story is unbelievable. ”
Gortsby said, “The only weak part of your story is that you don’t have the bar of soap with you.”
The young man jumped and felt quickly in his pockets. “I must have lost it, ” he said angrily.
Gortsby said, “To lose both a hotel and a soap in one afternoon is strange. In fact...”
But the young man did not wait for Gortsby to finish. He walked quickly away into the shadows.
Just then Gortsby saw a small package next to the bench. It was a bar of soap.
Gortsby hurried after the young man. When he caught up with him, Gortsby said, “▼.”
He held out the soap. “It must have fallen from your pocket. Excuse me for not believing you. Please let me lend you some money. ”
Silently, the young man took the money Gortsby offered him and the soap. “Thanks. ” said the young man. He shook Gortsby’s hand and hurried off.
Gortsby walked back the way he had come. When he came to the bench, he found an old man looking around. Gortsby recognized him. He was the man who had been sitting there before the young man came.
“Have you lost something, sir?” Gortsby asked.

根据第二段“We must overcome (克服) every obstacle one small step at a time.”
根据第二段“Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these obstacles keep us from following our dreams.”
根据倒数第二段“I now realize that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life than they did themselves.”
根据最后一段“If we realize that these pains are just small bumps (碰撞) on our road to success, we will realize that our growing pains are actually growing gains!”

( )33.How did the grandparents feed their growing family?
A.They did whatever jobs they could.

D.They made a lot of money.

“Yes, sir, a bar of soap.”
( )37.Norman Gortsby felt ________ before he met the young man.

full满的;根据提示词和介词of可知,此空考查短语“(be) full of”,表示“充满……” 故填full。
故填have grown。
remember记得;根据“’d like”可知,此空考查短语“would like to do sth.(想要做某事)”,由此可知,横线处应填动词不定式to remember作宾语。故填to remember。
