设计说明 从谈论何时容易发生道路交通事故引入新课。通过听力练习和对话演练,提升学生的听说和朗读能力。学习本模块的新单词、短语和句型,学习新语言点,增加学生的语言积累。初步学习过去进行时与when和while引导的时间状语从句连用的句型。练习朗读中的停顿,提升学生在英语口语表达中的规范性和美感度。设置对应练习,巩固学生对单词、短语、句型和语法的掌握,提升运用能力。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1. 知识目标 掌握本单元新单词及短语:pale, appear, round, corner, hit, glad, in time, fall off..., risk, attention, pay attention, side by side。 2. 能力目标 (1)能够听懂关于事故的对话;用正确的语音、语调朗读对话; (2)学习过去进行时与when和while引导的时间状语从句连用的句型。 3. 情感目标 通过听说训练,了解日常出行中存在的安全风险,增强安全意识,提升防范能力,并养成遵守道路交通法规的好习惯。 重点难点 重点:对话的理解与朗读;过去进行时与when和while引导的时间状语从句连用。 难点:过去进行时与when和while连用。 教学准备 PPT课件;道路交通事故图片;活动2、3、5的录音 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Leading in T: Boys and girls, you may have seen road accidents on your way to school or home. Think about when accidents easily happen. Ss: … Show some pictures to help the class.
T: What can we do when we see a road accident happen?
Step 2 Warming up Look at the picture and say what is happening. Use the words and expression in the box to help you. (Activity 1 on page 64) Ask the students to look at the picture and then describe what is happening in pairs. Step 3 Listening Listen and underline the correct words. (Activity 2 on page 64) (1) Play the recording and tell the students to listen for what happened first. (2) Play the recording again and ask the class to underline the correct words. (3) Check answers in pairs. Answers: 1 was not 2 was not 3 was (4)Play the recording once more and show the tapescript at the same time if necessary. Tapescript: Policewomen: How did the accident happen? Driver: I was driving along the road and… Policewoman: How fast were you going at the time? Driver: I wasn’t going fast. Policewoman: Where were you going? Driver: I was going along the road, just here. Policewoman: Where was the boy on the bike going? Driver: I didn’t see him. Policeman: Were you looking? Driver: No, I wasn’t. Policewoman: Were you using your mobile phone? Driver: Yes, I was. Policewoman: So, that’s not good. You mustn’t use your mobile phone while you are driving. Step 4 Listening and reading 1. Ask the class to listen to the recording and then read the conversation. 2. Tell them to answer the questions according to the conversation. Check answers from the class.
Answers: (1) He was riding his bike and listening to music. (2) Yes, he was. (3) No, it didn’t. (4) He fell off his bike and hurt his knee. 3. Complete the following advice. (Activity 3 on page 65) (1) Ask the students to read the sentences and guess what advice they might give. (2) Ask them to read the conversation again. Underline the key information while reading. (3) Get the students to complete the sentences with the correct words. (4) Elicit answers in full sentences from the whole class. Answers: attention, red lights; ride; side by side; listen to music 4. Find out the following phrases and translate them into Chinese.
Ask the students to write down the phrases on their notebooks. 5. Read the conversation. (1) Ask the students to read the conversation following the recording. (2) Tell them to read the conversation on their own. (3) Encourage some students to read the conversation in different roles. Step 5 Practice Complete the passage with the words in the box. (Activity 4 on page 65) (1) Ask the students to read through the words in the box. Make sure they know the meaning of the words.

I was waiting to cross the road. 我正在等着过马路。 (1) wait to do sth. 等待做某事 Many people were waiting to get on the bus. 许多人正在等待上公共汽车。 (2) wait for 等待…… Who are you waiting for?你在等谁? (3) can’t wait to do sth. 迫不及待做某事 Children couldn’t wait to open the presents. 孩子们迫不及待地打开礼物。 2. While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared round the corner. 当交通信号灯正要变红时,一辆小汽车突然出现在拐角处。 (1) appear动词,意为“出现;显露”。其反义词是disappear,意为“消失”。 The roads and the trees appeared from the dark in front of us. 路和树林从黑暗中显现在我们面前。 We waited and waited, but the strange animal didn’t appear any more. 我们一直等,但那只奇怪的动物没有再出现。 (2) around此处作介词,意为“转到(某物的)另一边”。 The supermarket is around the next corner. 超市就在下一个拐角处。 3. The car stopped just in time, but the boy fell off his bike and hurt his knee. 小汽车恰好及时停了下来,但是男孩从自行车上摔了下来并伤了膝盖。 (1) 辨析:in time与on time
(2) fall off…意为“从……上跌落”,off是介词,表示“从……上移开”。 Mike fell off a tree yesterday morning. 昨天上午迈克从一棵树上掉了下来。 4. So when you’re on your bike, think about the risk of an accident! 所以当你在骑自行车时,考虑一下事故的风险! risk名词,意为“风险;危险”。the risk of…意为“……的风险”;take/ run a risk意为“冒险”。 Many people think that driverless cars can help reduce the risk of road accidents. 许多人认为无人驾驶汽车有助于降低道路交通事故的风险。 In order to save her child, the mother planned to take a risk. 为了救孩子,那位母亲打算冒险。 5. Pay attention, stop at the red lights and …what else? 注意,红灯处要停下来……,还有什么? (1) pay attention可以单独使用,意为“注意;留心”,用以引起警觉或注意。 Pay attention, please. 请注意。 (2) pay attention to意为“注意……”,后面接要注意的事项。 You should pay more attention to your spellings. 你应该多注意你的拼写。 [注意] attention名词,意为“注意力”,可单独使用以引起他人注意。 Attention, please. MU4762 from Beijing to Shanghai is going to take off. 请注意,从北京飞往上海的MU4762次航班即将起飞。 Step 7 Pronunciation and speaking 1. Listen and mark when the speaker pauses. (Activity 5 on page 65) (1) Ask the students to read the sentences. (2) Play the recording for the students to listen for the pronunciation and pauses. (3) Play the recording again and tell the students to decide where the speaker pauses. (4) Check the pauses together. (Activity 6 on page 65) (1) Put the students into groups of four. Imagine an accident that happens on the road. Student A is a policeman. Students B, C and D saw the accident happen. (2) Plan some questions together. For example: When did the accident happen? What were you doing at that time? (3) Student A asks and the other students answer.
