设计说明

设置活动“帮助动物找家”：用PPT展示一幅世界地图，让同学们辨认各洲在地图上的具体位置，并根据已掌握的知识说一下各洲有哪些动物。让同学们在地图上为动物们找到家。这样既衔接了上一单元的内容，又引出本单元的阅读话题。课文按照“速读—细读—读后运用”的基本步骤进行教学，培养学生的阅读技巧。在理解课文的基础上，呼吁大家爱护动物，增强保护动物的意识。

教学目标

通过本单元的教学，让学生达成以下目标：

1. 知识目标

掌握本单元的单词和短语：Africa, African, Europe, little, a little, only, about, kilo, people, as well as, all over the world, leaf, grass, large, usually, alone, be good at, strong, catch, even, many kinds of。

2. 能力目标

 (1) 能读懂介绍动物的文章，并能找出文中相关细节信息；

通过学习，增强学生对濒临灭绝的动物的保护意识。

Step 1　Warming up

1. Make the students talk about their favourite animals in groups.

Do you like animals?

What animals do you like best?

Can you talk about your favourite animals?

2. T: Boys and girls, look at this picture. Do you want to know where the elephant/… comes from? Now, let’s have a look. (PPT展示一幅世界地图)

1 Find these places on the map.

2 Look at the map again and write four sentences. Use the words from the box. (PPT展示一幅世界地图与动物的照片)

Step 3　Language points

1. It eats plants and a little fruit, but it doesn’t eat meat.

它吃植物和少量水果，但是它不吃肉。

a little意为“少量的”，修饰不可数名词，表示肯定意义。

Could you give me a little milk? 请给我一点儿牛奶好吗？

【拓展】little意为“很少，几乎没有”；修饰不可数名词，表示否定意义。

Hurry up! There is little time left. 快点！没时间了。

2. There are only about 1, 800 pandas in China and about 200 of them live in zoos. 在中国现在只有大约1 800只熊猫，其中约有200只生活在动物园里。

about副词，意为“大约”，表示约数。

He goes to school at about seven. 他大约在七点钟去上学。

【拓展】about介词，意为“关于”。

This book is about Lei Feng. 这本书是关于雷锋的。

3. The panda eats about 30 kilos of bamboo a day as well as other plants.

除其他植物外，熊猫每天要吃大约30千克竹子。

as well as意为“并且；还”。可以连接名词、形容词、动词、介词等两个并列的成分。as well as强调的重点是其前的内容。

He speaks French as well as English. 他不但会讲英语，还会讲法语。

My parents as well as my brother often go for a walk after supper.

我父母和我哥哥经常晚饭后散步。

注意：as well as连接两个并列成分作主语时，其句子的谓语动词要和前面的名词或代词在人称和数上保持一致。

4. This black and white animal is the favourite of people all over the world.

这种黑白相间的动物是世界各地人们的最爱。

people集体名词，意为“人；人们”。表示复数意义，作主语时谓语用复数。

There are many people in the park. 公园里有许多人。

A lot of people speak English. 许多人说英语。

【拓展】people可数名词，意为“民族”，其复数形式是peoples。

China has fifty-six peoples. 中国有56个民族。

alone副词，意为“独自地”。

The old man lives alone. 这位老人独自居住。

【拓展】 alone形容词，意为“单独的，独自的”。

be good at意为“擅长”，后接名词、代词或v.-ing形式。与do well in同义。

1. Ask the students to read the introduction about a zoo and correct the mistakes. Notice capital letters.

The zoo has many animals. the animals come from many different countries. The panda lives in china and it eats bamboo. There are elephants from africa and Asia. The tiger comes from asia. It eats meat.

2. Learning to learn

In English, we use capital letters with the first word of a sentence. We also use capital letters with the names of countries, towns, places etc.

在英语中，每个句子开头的首字母必须大写。国家、市镇、地方等专有名词首字母大写。
