    Unit 7  Seasons Grammar

    设计说明

    首先展示四季特点的图片,引出五种句式结构,进而通过大量的练习来练习和巩固这五种句式结构。在讲授S+V+IO+DO这一句式时,对常接双宾语的动词加以归纳和总结,在此基础上再跟S+V+DO+OC这一句型进行区分。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标:

    掌握词汇:cloud, kick, fever, cough, awful, from morning till night, kick the ball, have a high fever, cough a lot, an awful day

    2.能力目标:

    识别五种基本句型结构。

    3.情感目标:

    通过对四季知识的学习,培养学生热爱自然和保护自然的意识。

    重点难点

    重点:识别五种基本句型结构。

    难点:能区分五种基本句型结构,并用所学知识进行句子成分的划分。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Lead-in

    1. Show some beautiful paintings of a landscape in spring and ask students to describe the picture.

    The temperature rises.

    It is windy.

    Children fly kites.

    2. Show some beautiful paintings of a landscape in summer and ask students to describe the picture.

    It often rains.

    People feel hot.

    3. Show some beautiful paintings of a landscape in autumn and ask students to describe the picture.

    Autumn leaves turn brown.

    Farmers harvest crops.

    Step 2  Presentation  

    1. Show them the sentences on the screen.

    ■ The temperature rises.

    ■ It often rains.

    ■ People feel hot.

    ■ Autumn leaves turn brown.

    ■ Children fly kites.

    ■ Farmers harvest crops.

    2. Different parts of a sentence.

    (1) Tell students that“S”stands for subject. It means “主语”. In the first sentence “The temperature” is subject. Then ask them to find the subject in each sentence.

    (2) Tell students that“V”stands for verb. It means“谓语”. In the second sentence“rains”is a verb. Then ask them to find the verb in each sentence.

    (3) Tell students that“O”stands for object. It means“宾语”. In the last two sentences, “kites” and “crops” are object.

    (4) Show students the two sentences “People feel hot.”“Autumn leaves turn brown.” and tell them that “feel” and “turn” are predicative (P).

    (5) We divide verbs into three kinds: intransitive verbs (vi.), transitive verbs (vt.) and linking verbs (linking v.).

    3. Ask students some questions.And write the sentence structure of their answers.

    What am I doing?     I am speaking.    S+V

    What do I like doing?  I like reading.     S+V+O

    What do I look like?   I am tall.         S+V+P

    Who is teaching you English now?

    I am teaching you English now.          S+V+IO+DO

    What can make me happy?             

    Reading can make me happy.            S+V+DO+OC

    4. Present the sentence structure “S + V”.

    (1) Show two sentences: I am speaking. Everyone speaks.

    (2) Explain the structure of each sentence like “S+V”.

    (3) Show the students four pictures and ask them to describe the pictures with the structure like “S+V”.

    5. Present the sentence structure “S + V + O”.

    (1) Show two sentences: I like reading. I like all of you.

    (2) Explain the structure of each sentence like “S+V+O”.

    (3) Talk about the sentences with the same structure of “S+V+O”.

       The girl   likes   walking the dog.

         S       V        O

       The monkey   is eating    bananas. 

           S           V         O

    6. Present the sentence structure “S+V+P”.

    (1) Show two sentences: I am tall. I look a little fat.

    (2) Explain the structure of each sentence like “S+V+P”.

    (3) Show more sentences with the structure of “S+V+P” and give a summary about predicative.

    linking verbs (系动词)+adjectives (形容词)

    常见连系动词:

    一个be

    四个变得become, get, grow, turn

    五个感官feel, look, sound, taste, smell

    还有seem似乎stay保持

    Step 3  Practice

    1. Part A on page 85.

    (1) Millie is writing about the seasons. Help her underline the verb in each sentence and write down the main structure of the sentences. 2 minutes

    (2) Check the answers with students.

    We have four seasons.      S + V + O

    They are quite different.    S + V + P

    Spring is warm and sunny.  S + V + P

    We fly kites.             S + V + O

    We like summer.          S + V + O

    Ice cream tastes nice.      S + V + P

    Autumn arrives.          S + V

    Snow falls.              S + V

    2. Exercises. Write down the main structure of each sentence.

    The boy is swimming.          S + V

    Sandy watches clouds.          S + V + O

    We are listening to the teacher.   S + V + O

    The film was interesting.        S + V + P

    The temperature will rise.       S + V

    It is getting dark.              S + V + P

    Step 4  Presentation

    1. Present the sentence structure “S + V + IO + DO”.

    (1) Show two sentences:

    I am teaching you English (now).

    I teach my students English (every day).

    (2) Explain the structure of the sentence like “S + V + IO + DO”

    区分:在双宾语句型中,人是间接宾语(IO),物是直接宾语(DO)

    口诀:人间直物。

    (3) Give more sentences and let students to underline the “IO” and “DO”.

    (4) Give a summary.

    teach, give, send, pass, show, lend, sell, tell, offer... sb. sth. =

    teach, give, send, pass, show, lend, sell, tell, offer... sth. to sb.

    buy, cook, bring, make, build, get, order, pick, leave sb. sth.=

    buy, cook, bring, make, build, get, order, pick, leave sth. for sb.

    (5) Practice. Complete the sentences with “to” or “for”.

    He lent his dictionary ________ me this morning.

    My mother often cooks hot food ________ us in winter.

    That saved a lot of time ________ me.

    They brought many presents ________ her.

    Answers: to, for, for, to

    (6) Talk about the pictures with the same structure of “S+V+ IO + DO”.

    (7) Show a picture about a child’s birthday and then ask students to make sentences using “give, send, buy, cook, bring” just like this:

    On my birthday, my mum gave me a gift...

    My dad bought me...

    My grandpa...

    2. Present the sentence structure “S + V + DO + OC”.

    (1) Show a sentence: Reading can make me happy.

    (2) Explain the structure of the sentence like “S + V + DO + OC”. Give more examples and explanations.

    (3) Practice: underline “OC” in the sentences below.

    We call our teacher Mrs Qian.

    I sometimes make her laugh. 

    I sometimes make her angry.  

    She asks us to study English well.

    I find her always in the school.

    I find her a good teacher.

    3. Read the sentences from Amy’s diary entries on page 86 and describe the main structure of the underlined sentences.

    (2) The clouds became dark. They covered the sun. Luckily, it didn’t rain.

           S+V+P              S+V+O                 S+V

    (3) Mum and Dad gave me nice presents, but I was not happy. I hate rainy days.

           S+V+IO+DO                     S+V+P        S+V+O

    (4) The sun was shining. I saw some kids kicking the ball in the park.

            S+V              S+V+DO+OC

    Step 5  Practice

    1. Try to tell the differences between “S+V+DO+OC” and “S+V+IO+DO”.

    eg: He calls me Tom.    (I am Tom)        A

    He gave me a book. I am not a book)   B

    A: S+V+DO+OC  (主谓宾补型 )

    B: S+V+IO+DO  (主谓双宾型 )

    2. Give more sentences and ask the students to choose A or B? Why?

    Lily brings me a present.                 B

    People call our city “Beautiful Garden”.     A

    I find English important.                 A

    She finds the panda lovely.               A

    3. Introduce your classmates to me using the following questions to help you.

    What is he/she doing?

    What does he/she like doing?

    What does he/she look like?

    What does he/she often teach (give/show...) you?

    How do you find him/her?

    Step 6  Homework

    1. Find out more sentences with the five main sentence structures in Unit 7.

    2. Finish the exercises in the workbook.
