Listening and speaking: Penfriends from different countries
设计说明 先让学生小组讨论他们所知道的国家,由此导入新课。通过给学生展示一些照片,让他们写出由此想到的国家及这个国家的人,这样,让他们回顾国家及对应国家的人的英语表达。通过让学生结对练习,巩固学生对国家、对应国家的人以及大数的表达。接下来,让学生明确现在完成时的用法,为后面的听说做准备。通过听对话及小组分角色朗读,让学生熟悉表达,为后面自由输出做准备。通过让学生在小组内询问曾去过的国家或阅读过相关材料的国家,检验学生对重要内容的掌握情况,并提高他们的应用能力。接下来,对部分知识点进行讲解。最后,设置结对练习,让他们谈论曾去过的城市或者阅读过与该城市相关的材料,锻炼学生的口语表达能力。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握本课节新词汇:penfriend, magazine; 会用现在完成时进行表达; 能够使用near/far from表达方位; 掌握句型:Which country have you visited/read about? 2.能力目标 能够听懂有关是否去过其他国家或阅读过与这些国家相关的材料的对话。能够对这一话题进行谈论。 3.情感目标 善于倾听,并能准确表达自己的意思。 重点难点 重点:掌握本课节新词汇penfriend, magazine。会用现在完成时进行表达。能够使用near/far from表达方位。掌握句型Which country have you visited/read about? 难点:能够听懂有关是否去过其他国家或阅读过与这些国家相关的材料的对话。能够对这一话题进行谈论。 教学准备 PPT课件;活动Listen and say的录音;有关各国的照片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Talk in groups. Ask and answer. (1) Do you know any countries in the world? (2) How do you know about them, on books, on TV, on the newspaper or on the magazines? (3) What’s the country famous for, food, interesting places, animals or sports? 2. Ask some students to share their answers.
Step 2 Revision 1. Show some pictures. 2. Ask the students to write down the country and the people that they can think of.

Step 3 Presentation Present the new words: penfriend, magazine. penfriend n.笔友 magazine n. 杂志
Step 4 Ask and answer 1. Show the students a table about foreigners in Shanghai.
2. Do pair work. Ask the students to talk about the information like this: S1: What do we call people from _____? S2: We call them_____. S1: How many _____ live in Shanghai? S2: More than_____. 3. Ask some pairs to share their dialogues.
Step 5 Learn and say Show the students how to use the present perfect tense to relate past events to the present. 现在完成时:可以表示过去已经发生或完成的动作对现在造成的影响或结果。 I have finished my homework. So I have time now. 我已经完成我的家庭作业了。因此现在我有时间了。(作业已经完成,对现在造成的影响或结果是,有时间了) Have you visited the UK? Have you read about the UK? visit the UK→I’ve visited the UK. read about the UK→I’ve read about the UK.
Step 6 Listen and say 1. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue first. —Nowadays we can visit countries near or far away from China. We can also read about them in magazines and newspapers. Which country have you visited or read about? —I’ve visited Japan. It’s near China. —I’ve visited the UK. It’s far away from China. —I’ve read about Canada. It’s far away from China. —I’ve read about India. It’s near China. 2. Play the recording again and let the students repeat. 3. Ask a group of five to read the dialogue.
Step 7 A survey 1. Ask the students to work in groups. Let them take turns to ask the student on their left the questions in “A survey”. S1: Which country have you visited? S2: I’ve visited _____. It’s near/far away from China. S3: Which country have you read about? S4: I’ve read about _____. It’s … 2. The groups write the name, country and near/far away from China in the table. (One country for each member of the group).
3. Let some groups present their findings.
Step 8 Language points 1. Nowadays we can visit countries near or far away from China. 现在,我们可以去游览那些离中国或近或远的国家。 near ①〔形容词〕近的,靠近的 I walk to school. It’s near. 我走着去学校。它很近。 ②〔介词〕靠近,接近 Does the woman live near here?这位女士住在这儿附近吗? far away from离……很远 My grandparents live far away from us.我的爷爷奶奶住得离我们很远。 2. We can also read about them in magazines and newspapers. 我们也可以在杂志和报纸上阅读到有关它们的材料。 read about阅读与……有关的…… I have read about the history of the country. 我已经阅读了有关这个国家的历史。 【拓展】read与read about read表示“阅读”,后接书籍、报纸等;read about表示“阅读与……有关的……”,相当于read sth. about,后接某个对象或事件。 When can you finish reading the book? 你什么时间能读完这本书? I read about her in today’s newspaper. 我在今天的报纸上读到关于她的信息。
Step 9 Homework 1. Complete the exercises in Workbook 7A on page 16. 2. Preview the other part of “Listening and speaking”.
