Teaching steps
Step 1 Warm up
- Greeting
- Free talk
T: How are you? What day is it? How do you feel?
- Sing the song “How do you feel?” together.
Step 2 New concepts
(一) Teach the new words
- Teach the new words “sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy, and snowy” as the following
Show a picture of snow and ask “what’s this?”. (It’s snow) .
Then show another picture to teach the new word “snowy”.
T: It is cold and snowy.
It’s snowy.
Teach the new words in the sentence. And try to ask students to repeat it in a whole sentence.
Make students to read the sentence in different ways.(individually, pair work, groups, boys group , girls group or team by team)
- Teach the new words“rainy, windy, cloudy, sunny”in the same way.
- Practice
Show pictures about weather that have no words on them, and ask students:
T: Is it rainy (sunny, windy, cloudy, snowy) ?
Ss: Yes. It’s___. / No. It’s___.
4.Listen to the tape of Part 1
(二) Teach the sentences: “How’s the weather today? It’s____. ”
1. Ask and answer
T : (Look out the window please) How’s the weather today?
Ss: It’s____
T : What’s the date?
Ss:It’s__________
T : How’s the weather in January?
Ss: It’s__________
T : How’s the weather in July?
Ss: It’s__________
2. Point to the pictures, ask and answer.
3. Practice in pairs and act it out. (part 3)
4. Listen to the tape of Part 2, Part 3.
5. Sing a song: “How’s the weather?” together.
(三) Letters and sounds
1. Read the words: “first” and “third”, and find the same point.
2. Try to read the word “dirty”.
3. Try to read the words “fur” “dancer” “world” in the same way.
4. Listen to the tape of Part 4
