【教学目标】
1. 知识和能力目标
1)本课时的语言目标为讨论人的外貌(Talking about people's appearance)。围绕这语言目标,学生应掌握“What does he/she look like? What do they/you look like? He/She is…He/She has…”等句型;
2)学会谈论身高、体重、发型并掌握“like, look like, curly, long, thin, heavy, medium, build ”等重点词汇。
2. 过程和方法目标
1)学生通过看、听、说、写,掌握并使用描绘人的外貌的句型和词汇。
2)学生完成教材和老师设置的各项任务,并使用这一课时的目标语言获取与分享信息,自由谈论他人的外貌特征
3. 情感态度和价值观目标
1)在谈论他人的外貌时应注意使用委婉语,礼貌待人。
2)不要以貌取人(Don't judge people by appearance)。
【教学重难点】
1)描绘人的外貌的句型和词汇
2)句型中is和have/ has 的区别
【教学过程】
Part 1: Say me
- Get to know me (New words teaching)
Invite students to talk about Miss Li and their own English teacher.
T: Who’s your English teacher? What does he/she look like?
Is she/he tall/short? Ss:…
T: That’s what we are going to talk about.
(Write the title on the blackboard).
(1) Now look at the picture. (教师出示3副图)What do you think of him? He is __? Yes, short.

(2)These people are really different. How about this one? What does he look like? (Show another picture)------fat. Then list the other two pictures about “of medium build and thin”
After presenting a comprehensive picture to exam the effect.
(4)Hair: long hair short hair curly hair straight hair
2.以师生对chant 的方式复习小结刚才学习的形容词(师说上句,生说下句,即前一单词的反义词并做手势;如时间不充裕该环节可机动。)
i.e.: short short short, tall tall tall…

Attention (Drawing dictation): After reading, draw some heads on the blackboard, ask some students to make them beautiful according to the instructions I give. The other students are also to be asked to draw on the picture.
a. a boy with short straight hair, big mouth, small eyes
b. a girl with long curly hair, with glasses
3. Practice: finish 1a, match the words with the picture.
4.Make a summary:以word tree 形式小结刚才所学,描述physical appearance的单词
Part 2. Say them
Step1:Lead students to watch the picture carefully and finish 1b.
Q: 1.How many people are there in the picture?
- Where are they?
- What are the two girls doing?
- Can you describe the people in the picture? (为增添趣味性,课件超链接,生可自选数字,然后描述数字图片掩盖下的人物。)
Set the scene: The two girls are my students, Amy and Candy, they are waiting for a friend in a subway station. But what does Amy’s friend look like? Let’s listen and find out.
(Listening strategy 1: Pay attention to the key words while listening.)
Then check the answer by asking: what does Amy’s friend look like? Invite students to use the target language. That’s a good job out there.
Step 2:2a&2b.
- Set the scene: Just now you know me, Amy and her friends. And a friend is wealth. Do you want to know more friends? Here we have David, Sally and Peter. What do they look like?
- Finish 2a.
- Finish 2b.
(Listening strategy 2: Focus on the key information and take notes or draw on the question paper.)
Step 3:Listening challenge. (2d)听力填空题
邀请两名学生录制对话成视频,教师可把这个部分做成看视频填表格(模仿江西中考题型),也可以变成填句子。

1. What are Mike and Tony doing later this evening?
- When are they meeting?
- Who is going with them?
- Where are they meeting? 5. What does David look like?
6. Why does Tony want to know what David looks like?
Step 4:A game: Magic eyes.
T:By the way, do you like playing games?
(人物图片几秒钟之后消失,学生靠回忆回答问题:What does he/she look like?)
Part 3. Say you --Guessing Time:自画像
Do you have a good time? Good! I’ll show you more exciting things.
Tips:
- We have two teams.
- Give students several minutes to write at least 6 sentences to describe themselves, but don’t write their own names on it.
- Collect the pieces of paper from students and have two teams compete. Ss from two teams pick out one piece of paper, read the notes and guess who he/she is. The team that guesses successfully most is the winner.
T: Now I want to see who stands the fastest.

Get the students summarize the main sentences we learned. (重点总结句型结构)

必做题:Make a survey: What do your teachers look like?
选做题:
- Write a lost: Tina is missing(走失)…Her parents are looking for her. Please help them write a lost. The beginning is given.
